Abstract: Systems and methods for locating users or equipment on an offshore oil rig or other hazardous location or during transit include user devices, each having a locatable element, at least one motion sensor, and data storage having identifying information relating to a user or item of equipment. Locator devices positioned at discrete locations detect the locatable elements and generate a record that includes the discrete location, the identifying information, and the speed or orientation of the user device. A central device can receive the record from each locator device, generate a log of the records, compare the log to expected parameters, receive expected deviations from the parameters, and generate alerts if a deviation is not expected. Additional locatable devices not associated with users can be provided for emergent access in escape vessels, emergency equipment, or similar locations, by users separated from a user device.

Abstract: A Venturi valve has a Venturi housing with a plunger slidably mounted on a control shaft within the Venturi housing. Sliding movement of the plunger along the control shaft is controlled by a compression spring. A hard stop is fixed to the control shaft to limit the movement of the plunger along the control shaft in order to keep the compression spring from over compression and from a resulting loss of accuracy.

Abstract: A portable labeling device is provided for applying labels to a film used in sealing a product package. The labeling device includes a platform mounted for adjustable positioning in relation to the film and a belt that is moveable around rollers associated with the platform. The belt is operable to receive a portion of each of the labels and transport them into registry with the film. A tamp roller is also provided and is moveable into a position pressing another portion of each of the labels against the film. The tamp roller is then movable to another position spaced away from the film when the belt moves around the rollers to transport other ones of the labels into registry with the film.

Abstract: This accessory is apparatus capable of implementing a method that can affect one or more features of a portable electronic device when brought into a vehicle having a radio with a right and a left speaker. The accessory has a sender for initiating transmission of an RF test signal at the portable electronic device. The RF test signal is arranged to cause the radio to produce a distinct pair of audio responses from the right and the left speaker. The accessory has a discriminator for determining for the right and the left speaker the corresponding return delay between transmission of the RF test signal and arrival of the distinct pair of audio responses at the portable electronic device.

Abstract: A sanding or grinding tool has a drum provided with an abrasive cylindrical outer wall. The depth guide has a curved outer surface composed of a number of arcuate segments each having a radius which extends outward from the centre of the guide and which is of a differing defined length. The depth guide is rotatable in increments to cause each segment, in turn, to face the work piece. Each facing segment functions to define the depth of material removed from the surface of the work piece.

Abstract: Disclosed are various embodiments for predicting a future location of a mobile user. A recent location of a mobile user is received. Past location data for the mobile user is retrieved from storage. A future location of the mobile user is predicted based at least in part on the recent location and on the past location data. The prediction is provided in response to a query or by subscription.

Abstract: A two-piece diaper system having a re-usable shell and a removable and replaceable absorbent pad is provided. The re-usable diapering system consists of a non-absorbent outer liquid impervious shell, as in a standard disposable diaper but without an integral central absorbent layer which is exposed to liquids in the crotch area. A separate disposable absorbent pad is provided in the central crotch area of the disposable diaper which is not sandwiched in the shell. The central area of the shell is stiffened to facilitate manufacture and handling by the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods for credential character selection are provided. The system includes one or more sensors configured to detect a character selection and generate a character selection signal, and detect a character selection completion and generate a character selection completion signal. The system also includes one or more processors coupled to the one or more sensors, the one or more processors configured to receive the character selection signal and the character selection completion signal, and generate an output signal based on the received character selection signal that includes components of a credential. The system also includes a network interface component configured to transmit the output signal. The credential characters may be components of a PIN or password. Moreover, the credential character selections may be made on one device, but displayed on a separate coupled device. The character selections may be a selection of a character or a modification of character.

Abstract: A counting scale can total the number of common articles transferred relative to the counting scale, when the transfers occur in stages. The scale has a weighing device for successively providing upon each staged transfer of the common articles, a weight signal signifying the current weight. The scale also has a processing device coupled to the weighing device for calculating a count in response to the weight signal provided by the weighing device upon the staged transfers. The processing device is operable to programmatically apply a series of divisors to consecutive values of the weight signal in order to automatically discern submultiples in the consecutive values. The scale also has an output device coupled to the processing device for presenting the count calculated by the processing device.

Abstract: A filter for use within a baghouse for filtering particulate material from fluid flow. The filter is to be supported by a tubesheet of the baghouse. The filter includes an elongate bag that has an open end adapted to be disposed adjacent to the tubesheet and an encircling sidewall that extends from the open end to a distal end of the bag. The sidewall permits passage of fluid there through so that the fluid may pass through the bag and blocks passage of particulate material. The filter includes an elongate cage that is located within and supporting the bag and that has a variable effective length. The filter includes cage-associated structure for increasing the effective length of the cage to maintain the sidewall to be taut adjacent the cage. The cage may include structure inhibiting movement of the cage. The filter may be part of a baghouse assembly.

Abstract: A method and circuit for controlling feedback in, for example, a power factor converter circuit. A current sense signal is compared with a reference signal to generate a comparison signal. A clipped signal is generated from the comparison signal where the signal is a periodic waveform that transitions between two levels that are symmetrically positioned about a reference signal. The clipped signal is used to generate a summed signal at the input of an integrator. The integrator generates a feedback signal suitable for use in, for example, a power factor converter circuit.
