  • Publication number: 20230107858
Abstract: Described herein is an impact device that may be slidably coupled to a wire rope barrier terminal end and, in the event of an impact on or about the terminal end by a vehicle, the impact device is configured to slide or advance along the terminal end wire rope(s) towards a wire rope barrier end and away from a terminal end anchor position. In a further embodiment, a method is described of retrofitting existing wire-rope barrier terminal ends with the device. The impact device may simultaneously (at least to some extent) absorb kinetic energy from the impact as well as redirect the direction of impact along the terminal end wire rope(s) towards, and optionally along, the wire rope barrier itself depending on the extent of impact. The sliding action also knocks over any posts in the direction of errant vehicle travel in an impact.

  • Patent number: 5333235
Abstract: A heating assembly is provided for attachment to an existing ceiling fan to heat airflow being generated by the fan blades. The heating assembly is adapted to connect to the base of the ceiling fan directly below the blades by means of the centrally located mechanical attachment mechanism associated with the fan and conventionally provided to allow attachment of a light kit thereto. The heating assembly includes a vented housing enclosing on or more electrical filaments, heat tubes or other heating elements arranged to radiate heat outwardly of the vented housing into the airflow generated by the fan blades and electrically connected by electrical leads extending through the attachment mechanism to wiring extending from the ceiling fan, which is normally used for a light kit assembly. The heating apparatus may also include an on/off switch and thermostat control located on the fan or at a remote location.

  • Patent number: 4922847
Abstract: A pliant anchoring device (10) includes a pliant anchor (12) having a pliant pouch (14) and a pliant extension (16), a first rope (24) that is attached to a first attaching point (18), and a second rope (26) that is attached to a second attaching point (28). In use, disposable ballast (40) is placed in the anchor (12), and the anchor (12) is secured to a boat and lowered to the bottom (50) of a body of water. To retrieve the anchor (12), a tension force is put on the second rope (26) thereby repositioning the anchor (12) from a ballast-retaining position (54) to a ballast-dumping position (56), the ballast (40) is dumped from the anchor (12), and the anchor (12) is retrieved from the body of water.
