  • Patent number: 8844248
Abstract: Provided is a method for forming a bag around an article, the method comprising: providing an oriented film; cauterizing the film at a temperature sufficient to de-orient a portion of the film to create a cauterized area on the continuous film; placing an article(s) on the film between adjacent cauterized areas; heat-sealing the film around the article(s) such that at least a portion of the film between the heat-sealed area and the article comprises the cauterized area. Also, provided is a form, fill, and seal apparatus comprising a heat sealer and a cauterizer, both having a temperature control, the heat sealer positioned to allow the heat sealer to form a seal between two edges of film having an article wrapped therein, and the cauterizer positioned to cauterize an area of the sealed film in an area adjacent to the sealed edges and the article.

  • Patent number: 6809330
Abstract: A new and improved line scan camera achieves the proper framing of the image field of view by using a first test card to calibrate the true bottom and leading edge portions of the test card which simulate the true bottom and leading portions of an article being scanned or photographed. Still further, the architecture of the electronic chip incorporated within the charge coupled device (CCD) of the camera effectively divides the linear array of pixels into a plurality of channels, and amplifier gain and black offset adjustments are made with respect to exposure levels, characteristic of the pixels disposed at the channel boundaries, under different degrees of input whiteness signals applied to a test card of a predetermined color shade, so as to achieve channel-to-channel seam matching.

  • Patent number: 4171060
Abstract: A thermo-insulated drinking cup covered by a detachable lid; the lid having a depressed top area and an orifice. A valve closing said orifice is actuated by a rotating thumb-controlled lever. The lever is effective when rotated in either direction in order to accommodate right-handed or left-handed handling of the cup.

  • Patent number: 4105050
Abstract: An integrally molded, elastomeric fluid flow restrictor for use in pipes to even the volumetric time rate of flow of fluid through a pipe regardless of applied fluid pressure. The restrictor has a flow passage orifice which elastically responds to compressional fluid pressure to vary in size inversely to applied pressure. The restrictor includes integrally attached to the main body upstream and downstream annular flanges of an outer diameter less than the main body diameter, thereby defining a shoulder on the main body, and the flanges have an inner diameter larger than the flow orifice. The shoulder of the main body is beveled slightly inward to seat against a fitting to provide a tight seal in actual operation. A fitting adapted to the restrictor which fits into a hydraulic system is also disclosed.
