  • Patent number: 7980790
Abstract: A compressible mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall system and installation thereof is described.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 13, 2008
Date of Patent: July 19, 2011
    Assignee: T & B Structural Systems, Inc.
Inventors: Thomas P. Taylor, James Scott Bagwell
  • Patent number: 7891912
Abstract: A system for securing a facing comprising a wire grid that is positionally fixed relative to an earthen formation in a substantially vertical position, a formation anchor that is positionally fixed between the wire grid and the earthen formation, a facing that is laterally offset a distance from the wire grid and having a facing anchor, and a turnbuckle that is rotatably coupled between a first connector and a second connector, wherein the first connector is coupled to the facing anchor and the second connector is coupled to the formation anchor, such that rotation of the turnbuckle relative to the first and second connectors adjusts the distance between the wire grid and the facing.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 4, 2008
Date of Patent: February 22, 2011
    Assignee: T & B Structural Systems, LLC

  • Publication number: 20090285639
Abstract: A facing anchor for securing a soil reinforcing element to a facing comprising an unbroken length of continuous wire originating with a pair of lateral extensions cast into a concrete wall and including a series of loops extending from the concrete wall, wherein the loops each include an angularly inclined distal end segment configured to receive corresponding ends of the soil reinforcing element.

  • Patent number: 6517293
Abstract: A connection for securing the longitudinal wires of a soil-reinforcing mat to a face element for an earthen formation is provided by converging the lead ends of the wires toward one another and securing a connecting rod between the ends. The rod is extended into engagement with an anchor on the face element. A variety of structures are provided for securing the rod against separation from the anchor. To enable the mat to move in a horizontal plane relative to the face element, the rod may extend in a direction normal to the mat and be rotatably received in a vertically extending opening in the anchor.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 12, 2001
Date of Patent: February 11, 2003
Inventors: Thomas P. Taylor, William K. Hilfiker, James Scott Bagwell

  • Publication number: 20020044841
Abstract: A connection for securing the longitudinal wires of a soil reinforcing mat to a face element for an earthen formation is provided by converging the lead ends of the wires toward one another and forming aligned coils distally on the lead ends. A pin extending through the coils secures the soil-reinforcing mat to the face element for pivotal movement relative thereto in a horizontal plane. A variety of means are provided to secure the coils against unwinding in response to tension force applied to the wires.
