  • Publication number: 20140276288
Abstract: A system and apparatus for promoting perfusion at a tissue site containing a sprain by applying a vacuum to intact skin extending over or surrounding the tissue site. The system and apparatus comprise a manifold formed from a porous material and configured to be disposed proximate the intact skin for distributing vacuum to the intact skin, and a sleeve adapted to cover the manifold and form a chamber containing the manifold to seal the manifold within the chamber between the sleeve and the intact skin. The system and apparatus further comprise a fluid coupling member adapted to deliver vacuum to the manifold for distribution to the intact skin. A method for applying vacuum to the intact skin of a tissue site is also disclosed and described herein.

  • Publication number: 20080092753
Abstract: Egg cooking apparatus comprises a cradle (13, 14) for the egg including resistance means (22), and control circuitry for heating the resistance means. The cradle comprises flexible sheet means wrappable round the egg, mounted in a pair of half-shell units (10, 11) mounted for opening and closing around the egg. The half-shell units are of a silicone elastomer with crimped resistance wire incorporated therein, and each backed by a set of resilient fingers. The control circuitry includes temperature sensing means adjacent to the resistance means, and means (15) for setting the desired temperature and cooking time.

  • Patent number: 4563111
Abstract: A mine roof support has a roof engaging structure 13 and a floor engaging base 14, spaced apart by extensible hydraulic jack means 15 and 16. The roof engaging structure and the base are interconnected by a pivotal linkage device 23, 24 arranged so that, throughout its range of working movement, a pivot point of the linkage performs substantially greater movement in the vertical direction than in the horizontal direction. This reduces the effect of problems arising from the linkage device projecting substantially into the goaf area of a mine working or into the walkway area of the support. In a preferred embodiment the linkage device comprises a parallelogram type linkage.

  • Patent number: 4505517
Abstract: A self-advancing mine-roof-support for use in or aligned with a main roadway or gate has a floor-engaging part and a roof engaging part spaced apart by extensible load-bearing prop or jack means, and engagement means for a face-conveyor and a transversely acting transfer conveyor whereby their relative positions are constrained to facilitate discharge of mineral from one conveyor to the other. The engagement means for the face conveyor comprises sliding anchor beams that assure maintenance of the relative attitudes of the support and the face conveyor and the transfer conveyor is held fore and aft of the support.
