  • Publication number: 20240094695
Abstract: Load controls are provided which include a housing including a controllably conductive switch to control electrical power to a load, a controller, and a control interface. The controller is operatively coupled to control operation of the controllably conductive switch in an operational mode, and is user-programmable in a settings mode. The control interface includes a first actuator and a second actuator. The first and second actuators are to respectively select a programmable setting and an option for the setting based on respective, specified numbers of actuations. The actuators include first and second user-activated electromechanical devices and are selectable by a user without disassembly of the load control.

  • Patent number: 11882207
Abstract: Techniques for securely controlling multiple lighting devices simultaneously with a lighting control device are disclosed. Command messages may be transmitted from the lighting control device to multiple lighting devices over a computer network without routing through a remote cloud service. The messages may be encrypted and may include an incremented sequence number. Lighting devices that receive a command message may compare the incremented sequence number to a previously stored sequence number corresponding to the lighting control device. If the incremented sequence number is greater than the stored sequence number, then a lighting device may determine the message was transmitted by an authorized lighting control device and may implement any command instruction included therein. If the incremented sequence number is equal to or less than the stored sequence number, then the lighting device may determine the command message was transmitted by a malicious source and may ignore the command message.

  • Patent number: 11576040
Abstract: A wireless enabled lighting device having the ability to retrieve credentials for a primary wireless LAN from another previously configured wireless enabled lighting device is disclosed. After installation, the lighting device may be instructed to join a secondary wireless network temporarily provided by the previously configured lighting device. Once connected to the secondary wireless network, the lighting device may be provided the credentials for the primary wireless LAN from the previously installed device. The lighting device may then join the primary wireless LAN based on the provided credentials and may automatically initiate enrollment with a remote cloud service. After enrollment, the lighting device may be instructed to operate as an access point for the secondary wireless network, thereby allowing a subsequently installed lighting device to retrieve the credentials for the primary wireless LAN from the newly enrolled lighting device.

  • Publication number: 20220416526
Abstract: A wall-plate system having a wall-plate adapted to accommodate a printed circuit board assembly (PCBA) coupled with the wall-plate and may comprise a mounting bracket. The PCBA may include one or more chip packages and/or other components that extend into cavities in the mounting bracket after installation, the cavities located on the mounting bracket to accommodate chip packages and/or other components. The wall-plate may include snaps to couple with the mounting bracket, the snaps extending from an interior surface of the wall-plate, the snaps located away from edges of the wall-plate towards a center of the wall-plate. The mounting bracket may comprise openings to couple with a device in a junction box and/or with the junction box. The wall-plate may comprise, e.g., one or more battery mounts and the mounting bracket may have a shape to accommodate extension by the battery mounts into a plane of the mounting bracket.

  • Patent number: 11513764
Abstract: A wireless enabled load control device having integrated voice control is disclosed. The load control device may be connected to a variety of local and remote devices, including lighting devices and smart appliances, as well as various cloud service platforms. The load control device may receive a voice command from a user. The load control device may transmit the voice command to a first cloud service platform for processing to determine an instruction included in the voice command. The determined instruction may be provided to a second cloud service platform connected to the first cloud service platform. The first and second cloud service platforms may be connected to a device to be controlled based on the voice command. The cloud service platforms can adjust an operation of the device based on the determined instruction.

  • Publication number: 20220232689
Abstract: A smart wall-plate system having customizable device controls to initiate automation functions, routines, actions, activities, or control to be performed by a variety of local or remote devices is disclosed. The smart wall-plate system may be connected directly or indirectly to any number and type of local and remote devices as well as various cloud service platforms and home service hubs or assistants. The local and remote devices can include, for example, lighting devices, smart devices, and Internet-of-Things (IoT) devices. The wall-plate system may receive an input from a user. The wall-plate system or another system in communication with the wall-plate system may determine an instruction corresponding to, or triggered by, the received input. The instruction may specify an automated activity to be performed. In response, the wall-plate system or another system may transmit one or more signals to perform the automated activity.

  • Publication number: 20220115189
Abstract: An electrical device such as, for example, a battery-powered electrical switch is disclosed. The battery-powered wireless switch includes one or more mechanisms arranged and configured to provide simplified access for servicing (e.g., replacing) the batteries located within the wireless switch. In one embodiment, the wireless switch is arranged and configured so that the batteries may be accessed by reconfiguring the wireless switch from a first closed position to a second opened position to access the batteries. Thus arranged, removal of the wireless switch from a wall-box or a surface of a wall is not required, the user may only need to remove the wall-plate in order to reconfigure the wireless switch. In one embodiment, at least a portion of the wireless switch is pivoted from the first position to the second position to provide access to the batteries.
