Patent number: 10284523Abstract: Embodiments provide techniques and example network devices that can automatically establish a virtual secure connection, e.g., VPN Tunnel, between separate networks including home and/or business networks without requiring additional VPN type infrastructure. The network devices described herein can be configured over the Internet, and do not require that the purchaser or an end user perform extensive configuration in order to use them. The network devices as described herein can tunnel all traffic between the separate networks to which the devices are paired as though a remote connected device is a local device on the local network. Remote computer or other network-enabled devices associated with the remote connected device can use and be accessible to computer or other network-enabled resources on the local network as though the separate networks are a single contiguous network without regard to the operating environment of the respective networks or devices thereon.Type: GrantFiled: March 27, 2014Date of Patent: May 7, 2019Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventor: Robert James Silk

Patent number: 9714089Abstract: Techniques are provided for analyzing data obtained while delivering items with unmanned aerial vehicles. For example, instructions may be provided to an unmanned aerial vehicle to deliver an item. The unmanned aerial vehicle may be configured to record data while delivering the item. In embodiments, the captured data may be received by a computer system and properties about a destination for the delivery may be identified by analyzing the data. A recommendation may be generated based at least in part on the identified properties.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2015Date of Patent: July 25, 2017Assignee: Amazon Technologies, Inc.Inventors: David Brian Louw, Robert James Silk

Publication number: 20140272495Abstract: A multi-cell battery system is disclosed including a plurality of battery sub-assemblies stacked together along a longitudinal axis, and an electrical connector between the battery sub-assemblies. A heat exchange passageway passes across the electrical connector to cool the battery system. An exemplary electrical connector includes a plurality of heat transfer features to promote cooling of the battery system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 14, 2013Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: ENERDEL, INC.Inventors: Bruce James Silk, Derrick Scott Buck
-
Publication number: 20140272518Abstract: A multi-cell battery system is disclosed including one or more battery sub-assemblies and one or more compliant heat exchange assemblies stacked together along a longitudinal axis. Each compliant heat exchange assembly may adapt to expansions and contractions of adjacent battery cells, and may define a heat exchange passageway through the battery system.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2014Publication date: September 18, 2014Applicant: EnerDel, Inc.Inventors: Bruce James Silk, Derrick Scott Buck, Wendell G. Ferguson

Publication number: 20140113165Abstract: Battery assemblies are disclosed which may include a plurality of battery cells positioned in trays which are stacked. The battery cells of each tray may be electrically connected together. The battery trays may include a battery support which extends under and supports a middle portion of the battery cells of the respective battery tray. The battery support may be a thermal sink for the battery cells.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2012Publication date: April 24, 2014Inventors: Bruce James Silk, Derrick Scott Buck, Thomas Tople, Stephen Alford

Patent number: 8425850Abstract: Embodiments describe an arrangement for reducing the amount of LPA that reaches a NOx reducing apparatus such as a SCR system. The arrangement includes deflection elements, screens, means for dislodging any LPA that might become lodged in the screens, an aperture for removing the ash through, hoppers or collection means and an ash conveyance system. The arrangement is positioned in a region of ductwork with a reduced gas flow such as the SCR reactor. The screens are positioned relative to one another to direct the LPA downward toward an aperture for removal. In one embodiment the positioning of the screens creates a half-trough or inverted pyramid appearance when placed next to a vertical wall in the flue gas ductwork or the SCR reactor. The low point of the trough is in communication with the aperture allowing the LPA to exit the flue ductwork.Type: GrantFiled: December 8, 2010Date of Patent: April 23, 2013Assignee: American Electric Power Company, Inc.Inventors: Chao P. Lin, Darren C. Hanby, Jeffery L. Hofacre, Thomas E. McCartney, James Silk
