  • Publication number: 20060171564
Abstract: A system in a moving surveillance vehicle operates in background mode to capture images of license plates of neighboring moving vehicles, which may occupy lanes other than the lane in which the surveillance vehicle is moving. The images are used to determine the license plate numbers of the moving vehicles, which are then checked against a database to determine whether there are any potential law enforcement-related problems that require the attention of the operator. If so, the system alerts the operator using an audible tone, visual prompt, vibration, or in some other suitable manner. The entire process, including generation of the alert can occur autonomously of the operator.

  • Publication number: 20060105188
Abstract: A curative containing two or more primary hydroxyl groups per molecule and one or more moieties derived from a secondary hydroxyl-containing polyol such as polypropylene glycol is prepared in a multistage process wherein the secondary hydroxyl-containing polyol is end-capped with an excess of a reactant such as a polybasic acid and the resulting functionalized intermediate is then reacted with a polyol such as glycerin or diethylene glycol containing primary hydroxyl groups. Such curatives may be used in combination with isocyanate-functionalized polyurethane prepolymers to provide two component adhesives useful for laminating thin films and/or foils.

  • Publication number: 20050039754
Abstract: The present invention relates to an illuminated airway product that will allow visualization of the airway of a patient during intubation. The illuminated airway product includes a light source such as an LED disposed at its distal end. The LED shines axially, radially, or in both directions from the airway intubation device. The airway product includes an on-board voltage source. Hence, no additional or external voltage sources or components are necessary to light the device. The airway device may further include one or more lumens or tubes for delivering air, suctioning debris or fluids, delivering medicine, radio-opaqueness, etc. An inflatable cuff may be associated with the endotracheal tube such that collateral flow of air is prevented. An inflation lumen or tube is fluidly coupled to the inflatable cuff. The shape of the endotracheal tube may be adjusted either by use of a stylet or suction trocar made out of a malleable material such as aluminum or by inclusion of a malleable wire within the tube.

  • Publication number: 20050003030
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for reducing the production of nitric oxide, inducible nitric oxide synthase protein and mRNA, and cyclooxygenase-2 protein and mRNA in cells both in vivo and in vitro via the administration of extracts and compounds derived from the seeds of Pycnanthus angolensis Warb. (P. Kombo), commonly known as African nutmeg. These extracts and compounds, namely, kombo butter, kombo butter acid extract, sargaquinoic acid, sargachromenol, and sargahydroquinoic acid, are also useful in the treatment and prevention of a battery of adverse health conditions in human, animal, and avian subjects that are advanced by the production of nitric oxide or its metabolites and/or by the activity of cyclooxygenase-2. Methods for the isolation of kombo butter acid extracts are also provided.

  • Patent number: 6161769
Abstract: Method and apparatus for making snow by generating water spray from a triple array of multiple nozzle sub-boom branch-pipes transversely protruding from the upper end of a main boom of a pivotably adjustable snow making pipe tower. Three air jet streams, one for each branch pipe, are simultaneously discharged under high pressure into and sequentially through the throats of each associated multiple stack of water sprays issuing from each set of branch pipe nozzles to thereby form multiple spray plumes of atomized and seeded water all directed forwardly from the upper end of the tower pipe. The water pipe may be an elliptical aluminum extrusion with two interior air tubes respectively controllably feeding large and small diameter air jet arrays to thereby provide a range of air jet water spray interaction.

  • Patent number: 5951725
Abstract: A system which reduces the transmission of noxious fumes into the surrounding air during the application of a heated liquid roofing product on a roof. A mobile tanker or kettle contains a supply of the heated liquid. The air space within the tanker or vessel above the liquid product communicates with a mobile filtration unit by a first duct. A rooftop carrier for the liquid product has a fume collection hood which communicates with the filtration unit by a second duct. A blower in the filtration unit creates negative pressure which draws the noxious fumes from the tanker or vessel and carrier through the ducts and into and through the filtration unit. The filtration unit has a series of airtight chambers mounted on a mobile truck bed, each containing a different type of filtering medium to remove various components of the noxious fumes as the fumes move through the filtration unit.
