Publication number: 20120280085Abstract: A system including an extraction force transfer coupling link assembly is provided that extracts a cargo from an airborne aircraft with an extraction parachute and then deploys the cargo with a descent parachute. During a normal extraction the link assembly transfers a force from an extraction line to a deployment lanyard that deploys a descent parachute. In the event of a failed extraction, the assembly severs the deployment lanyard and jettisons the extraction parachute. The extraction force transfer coupling link assembly includes an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene rope that has one end of the deployment lanyard braided with the extraction line. The rope acts as both the extraction line for the cargo and the deployment lanyard for the descent parachute. By virtue of the ability to use a single rope, the link assembly is of simple construction and employs pyrotechnic cutters to effect the release of the extraction line and deployment lanyard rather than conventional mechanical interlocks.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 6, 2011Publication date: November 8, 2012Inventors: Robert James Sinclair, John Allen Barnett, Robert Kelly Bresnahan Schauer

Patent number: 8275693Abstract: An anonymous trading system includes a prime broker facility that allows a third party to trade on behalf of an institution. A deal is executed between the third party and a counter-party and a further deal is then executed between the third party and the party on whose behalf it has traded. The second deal may be for the same amount as the first deal or may be altered to include the third party's fee for conducting the first deal. Clients of the third party have prices available to them for trades made via the third party which are displayed at their trader terminals. The client sees that a better price is available though the third party than by dealing direct and selects to conduct a deal through the third party.Type: GrantFiled: May 5, 2009Date of Patent: September 25, 2012Assignee: EBS Group LimitedInventors: James Sinclair, James O'Hagan, Edward R. Publication number: 20120239549Abstract: A computer trading system includes a quote screening function configured to accept quotes specifying a quote amount in a price where the quote amount is greater than a minimum quote amount to produce screen quote messages and to reject quotes specifying a quote amount less than the minimum quote amount. A market view generator generates market views from those quotes which specify an amount greater than or equal to the minimum quote amount. An order screening function only accepts orders specifying an amount less than a maximum transaction amount submitted in response to the market views to produce screened order messages. A transaction processor receives screened quote messages and screened order messages and matches appropriate messages with each other. The minimum quote amount is substantially equal to or greater than the maximum transaction amount whereby a screened order message can be matched entirely with one screened quote message.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 4, 2012Publication date: September 20, 2012Applicant: EBS GROUP LIMITEDInventors: Karen Ilse Setz, Snezhana Malkin, Leong Fai Mah, Steven J. Patent number: 8206659Abstract: Methods and devices for controlled evaporation of solvent from a solution are provided. In one embodiment, the device can control evaporation of different solutions comprising solvents of dissimilar volatilities simultaneously. In another embodiment, control over the flow of solvent vapor out of the device is provided by selecting the pressure at an inlet port and an exhaust port of the device. In yet another embodiment, control over the flow of solvent vapor out of the device is provided by selecting the size of a disk flow control orifice positioned between the wells and a vapor removal outlet of the device. In still another embodiment, control over the flow of solvent vapor out of the device is provided by the opening and closing of the vapor removal outlet of the device. In yet a further embodiment, the rate of evaporation of solvent is controlled by controlling the temperature of the solution.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2009Date of Patent: June 26, 2012Assignee: Vertex Pharmaceuticals IncorporatedInventors: Jack Barger, James Sinclair, Michael P. Publication number: 20110318357Abstract: The invention is based on the discovery of the epitope in the Stx2 protein for the 11 E1O antibody. The invention features compositions containing non-full length Stx2 polypeptides that include the 11 E1O monoclonal antibody epitope. The invention also features methods of producing anti-Stx2 antibodies specific for the 11 E1O epitope of the Stx2 protein. Additionally, the invention features methods for treating a subject having, or at risk of developing, a Shiga toxin associated disease (e.g., hemolytic uremia syndrome and diseases associated with E. coli and S. dysenteriae infection) with a polypeptide that includes the 11 E1O epitope or with an anti-Stx2 antibody developed using the methods of the invention. Furthermore, the invention features the detection of Stx2 in a sample using the antibodies developed using the methods of the invention.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 21, 2010Publication date: December 29, 2011Applicant: The Henry M. Publication number: 20110203392Abstract: Methods and devices for inline sampling of a bulk material, such as a powder, are provided. The material's bulk density can be determined from samples drawn using methods and devices described herein. One embodiment of a method of sampling a material allows the material to flow through a sampling compartment, closes off the flow of material below the sampling compartment, builds up a column of material through the sampling compartment, shifts the sampling compartment to remove a slice of material in the column, and places the slice of material into a sample container. A device for sampling a material is provided in another embodiment. The device includes an inlet, an outlet aligned with the inlet, and a sample collector. The sample collector can include at least one through hole and be configured to move such that the at least one through hole can be moved into and out of alignment with the inlet and the outlet.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 19, 2010Publication date: August 25, 2011Applicant: Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Inc.Inventors: James Sinclair, B. Publication number: 20110041809Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling a fuel pump assembly comprising a plurality of pump elements for delivering fuel at high pressure to a rail volume, each of the pump elements comprising a plunger which is driven by an associated cam to perform at least one pumping event per engine revolution and a control valve for controlling fuel flow into and/or out of the pump chamber. Each pumping event corresponds to an associated cam lobe of the associated cam. The method comprises, for each pumping event of each pump element, controlling the control valve of said pump element in response to an output control signal derived from at least one previous pumping event. The output control signal is derived by measuring fuel pressure within the rail volume to derive a measured rail pressure value; and comparing the measured rail pressure value with a demanded rail pressure value to derive a rail pressure error.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2010Publication date: February 24, 2011Applicant: DELPHI TECHNOLOGIES HOLDING, S.ARLInventor: JAMES SINCLAIR
