  • Publication number: 20210296925
Abstract: A battery combiner having three power ports for interfacing with a DC power load and with two DC power batteries or other DC power sources. A conductive path interconnects the three power ports. A switching circuit includes a switch for each of the DC power battery ports with each switch operable by a controller to direct current flow between one battery and the DC power load while isolating the other battery from the other conductive path. Sensors corresponding with each power port sense voltage and/or current from each of the external devices. Data ports corresponding with each power port allow communication between the controller and smart external devices connected to the power ports. The battery combiner is operable to power the DC power load with one battery source until the battery source is depleted and to switch to the other battery source to power the load without interruption.

  • Patent number: 6298734
Abstract: A vortex shedding flowmeter includes a sensor assembly received within a sleeve assembly that has a sensor tab extending into the fluid stream. The sleeve assembly includes a flexible sleeve portion that can flex slightly in the presence of vortices. The flexible sleeve exerts a force on a rocker arm of the sensor assembly which causes the sensor assembly to pivot about a pair of piezoelectric crystals mounted therein. A unique electrode pad and split electrode arrangement relative to the piezoelectric crystals is employed to provide the voltage signals from the piezoelectric crystals to a sensing circuit. The flowmeter can be used in either in-line or insertion applications.

  • Patent number: 5869772
Abstract: A vortex flowmeter has a bluff body extending across a conduit to generate vortices in a fluid flow, and a housing mounted to the conduit. A vortex sensing beam is mounted to housing and extends in cantilever fashion from the housing into the flow path separate from the bluff body. The vortex sensing beam is for sensing external vibration and for sensing vortices shed from the bluff body. A vibration sensing beam is mounted to the housing and extends in cantilever fashion away from the vortex sensing beam. The vibration sensing beam is for sensing external vibration only. In use, the outputs from the vortex and vibration sensing beams are combined to yield a final output signal in which the effect of external vibration is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5379036
Abstract: A data compression system utilizes multiple encoding/decoding processing units arranged in a massively parallel systolic pipe array for compressing a stream of input characters received at an input end of the pipe. The systolic pipe executes data compression by textual substitution, converting the uncompressed stream of input characters into a compressed set of pointers representative of the input. The processors store a dictionary of strings of previously-read input characters in association with corresponding pointers. The processors match portions of the input stream with the stored strings, and transmit the corresponding pointers in place of the strings. In order to execute decoding or decompression of the stream of pointers, the processors maintain a dictionary identical to that generated during encoding. The processors match received pointers with stored strings of data and transmit the corresponding data strings in place of the pointers.

  • Patent number: 4876541
Abstract: A data compression system for encoding and decoding textual data, including an encoder for encoding the data and for a decoder for decoding the encoded data. Both encoder and decoder have dictionaries for storing frequently-appearing strings of characters. Each string is identified by a unique pointer. The input data stream is parsed and matched with strings in the encoder dictionary using a novel matching algorithm. The pointer associated with the matched string is then transmitted to a remote location for storage or decoding. Thereafter, using a novel update algorithm the encoder dictionary is updated to include new strings of data based on the matched string of data. If required, a novel deletion algorithm is employed to remove infrequently used strings of data to provide room for the newly generated strings of data. The strings of data may be arranged using a modified least recently used queue.
