  • Publication number: 20090132585
Abstract: A method and system for creating user-customized multimedia-based instructional lessons enables a user to select desired instructional lesson segments retrieved or generated as media files from a storage medium, and integrate the media files for the selected lesson segments into an instructional lesson media file. For creating a customized language learning lesson, a large amount of language phrase segments may be stored in media files in a database. A user may browse the phrase segments and select what is of interest then order them into a preferred lesson sequence that is converted by destructively merging the media files into a single output media file. The output media file becomes a customized lesson created by the user. The user's customized lesson may be burned to a CD, downloaded to a media player, or used in a similar fashion.

  • Publication number: 20050243491
Abstract: A compact and multi-functional power monitoring and circuit protection system is provided that is easily installed, used and modified, and internally derives all control and output power from the input voltages being monitored for abnormal power conditions. The functionality of all desired power monitoring and sensing devices is integrated into one unit controlled by a microprocessor. This substantially reduces the number of parts and control wiring required to achieve adequate power monitoring and circuit protection, and reduces the assembly and installation time. The integrated system uses only one set of voltage input wires, one set of current input wires, one set of blown fuse input wires and one output pair of wires to the power disconnect switch's shunt trip. Circuitry is provided to select one of the three power phases being monitored such that one of the three phases is always available to power the system.

  • Publication number: 20050073789
Abstract: A solid state multi-pole switching device has input terminals for a plurality (n) of input control circuits, output terminals for a plurality (m) of output circuits each having an associated solid-state switch unit for switching a respective external circuit load, and a field-programmable unit coupled between the n input control circuits and the m output circuits for selectively establishing an electrical connection of any input control signal to any selected output circuit. The device components are carried on a main circuit board, with the solid state switch units (Triacs) mounted on plug-in boards selectively installed in an array of sockets on the main circuit board. The field-programmable unit may be a simple pin-and-jumper array, or a CPU coupled to an LCD display and settings control device. Timer controls may be programmed through the CPU for automatic on/off switching without the need to manually activate the input control circuits.
