    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a magnetic recording head assembly that includes an external alternating current (AC) source. A magnetic recording head of the magnetic recording head assembly includes a conductive structure between a main pole and a trailing shield. The conductive structure includes a conductive layer, and the conductive layer is nonmagnetic. The magnetic recording head assembly also includes an external AC source to supply AC current that flows through the conductive structure. In one aspect, the conductive structure is between a coil structure and the trailing shield, and the external AC source is coupled to the coil structure. The conductive structure and the external AC source facilitate consistently providing an enhanced AC writing field to facilitate effective and reliable writing, high ADC, high SNR, and reduced jitter.

The magnetic recording head assembly also includes an external AC source to supply AC current that flows through the conductive structure. In one aspect, the conductive structure is between a coil structure and the trailing shield, and the external AC source is coupled to the coil structure. The conductive structure and the external AC source facilitate consistently providing an enhanced AC writing field to facilitate effective and reliable writing, high ADC, high SNR, and reduced jitter.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to a magnetic recording head of a magnetic recording device that facilitates generating a downtrack magnetic bias field to enhance writing. During magnetic writing using the magnetic recording head, a bias current is directed in a cross-track direction on the trailing side of the main pole. Bias current flowing in the cross-track direction on a leading side of the main pole is reduced or eliminated. The bias current flowing in the cross-track direction on the trailing side of the main pole facilitates generating a magnetic field in a downtrack direction. The magnetic field in the downtrack direction is a bias field generated using the bias current. The magnetic bias field in the downtrack direction facilitates enhanced writing performance and increased areal density capability (ADC) for magnetic recording.

A magnetization of the DFG layer is configured to be aligned substantially parallel to a write gap magnetic field generated by the main pole during a write process, and the magnetization of the DFG layer is configured to flip its direction in response to application of a bias current exceeding a specified magnitude.

    Abstract: A magnetoresistive (MR) sensor or read head for a magnetic recording disk drive has multiple independent current-perpendicular-to-the-plane (CPP) MR sensing elements. The sensing elements are spaced-apart in the cross-track direction and separated by an insulating separation region so as to be capable of reading data from multiple data tracks on the disk. The sensing elements have independent CPP sense currents, each of which is directed to independent data detection electronics, respectively. Each sensing element comprises a stack of layers formed on a common electrically conducting base layer, which may be a bottom magnetic shield layer formed of electrically conducting magnetically permeable material. Each sensing element has a top electrical lead layer. A top magnetic shield layer is located above the sensing elements in contact with the top lead layers.

    Abstract: A hard-disk drive (HDD) with a current adjustment component is provided. The current adjustment component changes an amount of current to a magnetic-recording head of the HDD to cause a change in the strength of a magnetic write field produced by the magnetic-recording head in response to a determination that a present position of the magnetic-head head is not in a desired position. To illustrate, in response to a determination that the present position of the magnetic-recording head is further away from an edge of a current track being written than a desired position of the magnetic-recording head, the current adjustment component increases the current to the magnetic-recording head to cause an increase in the strength of the magnetic write field. The change in the strength of the magnetic write field causes data, written by the magnetic-recording head, to be located at a desired location on the magnetic-recording disk.
