  • Patent number: 9457206
Abstract: A knit fabric is provided having a fabric weight of no more than 20 OPSY (ounces per square yard) prepared from a combination of yarns of a fire-resistant rayon yarn, and an aramid yarn; wherein the knit fabric provides a V50 value of at least 600 fps, measured in accordance with MIL-STD-3207, and particularly provides flame resistance properties, antimicrobial properties, high air permeability, and high water vapor transmission, and a garment formed therefrom.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 2013
Date of Patent: October 4, 2016
    Assignee: Supreme Corporation
    Inventors: Matthew Kolmes, James Threlkeld
  • Publication number: 20160194793
Abstract: A lightweight knit fabric, has a knit structure prepared from at least 80 wt % of one or more yarns having a hydrophobic surface containing less than 1 part hydroxyl group per 10 million parts of (co)polymer forming the one or more yarns, and articles prepared therefrom, which provide efficient moisture transport and cooling effects on a subject in contact therewith.

  • Publication number: 20070144135
Abstract: A method for coating one or more yarn components, either individually or in an assembled configuration, with a (co)polymer coating is provided involving (i) immersing the one or more yarn components, either individually or as an assembled unit of two or more of said yarn components, in a treatment bath containing a carrier medium and a (co)polymer that can be dissolved or dispersed in the carrier medium; (ii) removing the one or more yarn components from the treatment bath; and (iii) evaporating excess carrier medium from the one or more yarn components to thereby form a coating of the (co)polymer on a surface of the one or more yarn components; and the coated yarn products formed thereby.

  • Publication number: 20060048495
Abstract: A heat resistant sewing thread is described having a) a core formed of at least one strand of a yarn having an elongation of at least 3%; b) at least one bottom cover wrapped around the core in a first direction at a rate sufficient to provide substantially complete coverage of the core by the bottom cover, wherein the bottom cover has an elongation of less than 1% and is made of a high-tenacity yarn; c) at least one outer cover wrapped around the at least one bottom cover, wherein the outer cover is wrapped in a second direction opposite to a direction of a cover layer on which the outer cover is directly wrapped, at a rate sufficient to provide substantially complete cover of the cover layer on which the outer cover is directly wrapped; d) at least one bonding agent; and e) a lubricant; wherein the composite heat resistant sewing thread remains intact when subjected to temperatures exceeding 1,000° C., and its use in preparing heat and/or fire resistant mattresses, pillows, items of apparel and other items.
