Publication number: 20210023248Abstract: An apparatus uses disinfecting ultraviolet light in the C spectrum (UVC) within a housing having an interior chamber. The exterior surfaces of the apparatus are provided in stainless steel suitable for a health care environment. The housing is configured to receive a variety of large devices such as walkers and wheel chairs. Once placed in the interior chamber, first and second offset sanitizing lights are turned on to sanitize the item or items disposed in the interior chamber. The offset lights provide light coverage to both ends of an item such as a wheel chair placed in the interior chamber. The interior of the chamber is lined with reflective, noduled material, to reflect light in a scattered pattern to increase coverage for the item being sanitized. A door closes the interior chamber when the lights are turned on. An interlock is used with the door to turn the lights off when the door is open.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2020Publication date: January 28, 2021Inventors: James Townsend, Richard Glen Fletcher

Patent number: 9071439Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for performing operations in an authentication token or other cryptographic device in a system comprising an authentication server. In one aspect, a code generated by the authentication server is received in the cryptographic device. The code may have associated therewith information specifying at least one operation to be performed by the cryptographic device. The cryptographic device authenticates the code, and responsive to authentication of the code, performs the specified operation. If the code is not authenticated, the operation is not performed. The code may be determined as a function of a one-time password generated by the authentication server. The function may also take as an input an identifier of the operation to be performed.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2007Date of Patent: June 30, 2015Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: Magnus Nyström, William M. Duane, James Townsend

Patent number: 7849323Abstract: A multimedia device or other type of processing device comprises a memory, a processor coupled to the memory, and playback circuitry coupled to the processor. In one aspect, the processor is operative to control the storage in the memory of at least one multimedia file containing a one-time password or other type of password, where the password is generated externally to the processing device, and to control the playback of the multimedia file via the playback circuitry to make the password apparent to or otherwise accessible to an associated user or other entity. The multimedia file may comprise, for example, an audio file, with the password being presented to the user in an audible form upon playback of the audio file. As another example, the multimedia file may comprise a video file, with the password being presented to the user in a visible form upon playback of the video file.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 2006Date of Patent: December 7, 2010Assignee: EMC CorporationInventors: John Field, Burton S. Publication number: 20060174104Abstract: A method of allowing a user to authenticate to an authentication service while isolating information associated with the user from the authentication service includes generating a service user identifier (SUID) associated with an authentication code source, a subscribing site and an authentication service. The method includes creating an association of the SUID with the information associated with the user, and isolating the association within the subscribing site. The method includes providing an authentication code generated by the authentication code-generating device from the user to the subscribing site, and providing the authentication code along with the SUID and information identifying the subscribing site to the authentication service.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 16, 2005Publication date: August 3, 2006Applicant: RSA Security Inc.Inventors: Mark Crichton, James Townsend

Patent number: 5227108Abstract: A method of forming an elongated decorative trim strip of thermoplastic material with an end of the strip having a desired shape of non-constant cross-section in planes perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the strip. An extruded length of thermoplastic material is first made of a length substantially equal to the desired length of the decorative trim strip with a first longitudinally extending surface of the length being a front show face and a second longitudinally extending surface opposite the first surface being a back mounting surface. At an end portion of the extruded length, material is removed inwardly from the second surface to create a cavity behind the first surface while leaving the show face generally undisturbed.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 1991Date of Patent: July 13, 1993Assignee: The Standard Products CompanyInventors: James Reid, Jr., James Townsend
