Publication number: 20100219261Abstract: An aerosol assembly for dispensing texture material in a coating on a portion of a target surface substantially to match a pre-existing texture pattern on the target surface, comprising a container assembly and an outlet structure. The container assembly comprises a container, an aerosol valve assembly, and an actuator member. The outlet structure defines a disc portion, at least one plug portion extending from the disc portion, and at least one outlet opening. Each of the at least one outlet openings defines a cross-sectional area associated with a predetermined to texture pattern. Pressurized fluid within the container forces the texture material out of the container through the selected outlet opening. The texture material is deposited on the portion of the target surface and allowed to dry to form the coating. The predetermined texture pattern associated with the selected outlet opening substantially matches the pre-existing texture pattern.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 9, 2010Publication date: September 2, 2010Applicant: HOMAX PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Donald J. Patent number: 7673816Abstract: An aerosol assembly for dispensing texture material. The aerosol assembly comprises a main container assembly, a secondary container, and a conduit. The main container assembly comprises a main container containing texture material, an aerosol valve assembly, and an actuator member. The aerosol valve assembly is operable in a normally closed configuration and an open configuration. Displacement of the actuator member places the aerosol valve assembly from the normally closed configuration to the open configuration. The conduit is connected between the main container and the secondary container to allow fluid flow between the main container and the secondary container. When the actuator member is displaced to place the aerosol valve assembly into the open configuration, the pressurized fluid within the secondary container enters the primary container to force texture material out of the main container.Type: GrantFiled: June 5, 2007Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Homax Products, Inc.Inventors: Donald J. Publication number: 20090224007Abstract: A dispensing assembly for an aerosol system for dispensing liquid material comprises an outlet member defining an outlet opening, a selector member, a collar member, an actuator member, and a base member. The collar member supports the selector member. The actuator member supports the outlet member and the collar member. The base member engages the selector member to allow movement of the selector member relative to the collar member. Movement of the selector member relative to the collar member causes movement of the collar member relative to the actuator member. Movement of the collar member relative to the actuator member alters a cross-sectional area of the outlet opening.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2009Publication date: September 10, 2009Applicant: Homax Products, Inc.Inventors: James A. Publication number: 20090188948Abstract: An aerosol device for dispensing texture material for matching existing acoustical ceiling texture. The device comprises a container, a valve assembly, a dispensing nozzle, a hardenable material, and pressurized inert gas as a propelling mechanism. The hardenable material and pressurized inert gas are placed into the container. When the valve assembly is opened, the inert gas forces the hardenable material out of the container through the dispensing nozzle. The dispensing nozzle diverts at least a portion of the hardenable material exiting the container to develop a spray suitable for the application of the hardenable material onto the ceiling surface being textured. The hardenable material preferably comprises at least water, filler, binder, and polystyrene particles. The inert gas is preferably nitrogen.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 27, 2009Publication date: July 30, 2009Applicant: HOMAX PRODUCTS, INC.Inventors: Donald J. Stern, James A. Tryon

Patent number: 7240857Abstract: An actuator assembly for an aerosol system that dispenses texture material. The actuator assembly comprises an actuator member and an outlet structure. The actuator member comprises a valve stem that defines a first portion of a fluid path. The outlet structure defines a second portion of the fluid path and an adjustable outlet orifice. The outlet structure is arranged adjacent to the actuator member such that fluid flowing along the first portion of the fluid path flows through the outlet orifice. The spray pattern of the texture material flowing through the outlet orifice is determined by the cross-sectional area of the outlet orifice. The cross-sectional area of the outlet orifice is arranged such that the spray pattern of the texture material causes the texture material to be deposited on a target surface in a desired texture pattern that substantially matches a pre-existing texture pattern.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 2005Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Homax Products, Inc.Inventors: Donald J. Patent number: 7226001Abstract: An aerosol assembly for dispensing texture material. The aerosol assembly comprises a container, a valve assembly, an actuator member, and at least one outlet member. A stem portion of the actuator member engages a stem recess formed in a valve member to fix the actuator member relative to the container during normal use of the aerosol system. The valve assembly comprises a valve spring that biases the actuator member against a valve seat to place the valve assembly into a closed configuration. Applying a force to the actuator member compresses the valve spring to place the valve assembly into an open configuration. When the valve assembly is in the closed configuration, fluid is substantially prevented from flowing through an actuator passageway. When the valve assembly is in the open configuration, fluid may flow out of the container through the actuator passageway.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2005Date of Patent: June 5, 2007Assignee: Homax Products, Inc.Inventors: Donald J. Stern, James A. Tryon
