  • Publication number: 20040067789
Abstract: A card shuffling device includes a top surface, a card receiving area for receiving an initial set of playing cards, a randomizing or arranging system for the initial set of playing cards, a collection surface in a card collection area for receiving randomized playing cards, the collection surface receiving cards positioned so that all cards collected are below the top surface of the device, and an elevator for raising the collection surface so that at least some randomized cards are elevated above the top surface of the device. An automatic card shuffler includes a microprocessor with memory. An automated calibration system is provided that calibrates the precise position of the card supporting platform in the elevator so that precise insertion of cards can be performed during card handling procedures.
    Type: Application
    Filed: July 17, 2003
    Publication date: April 8, 2004
    Applicant: Shuffle Master, Inc.
Inventors: Atilla Grauzer, Oliver M. Schubert, James V. Kelly, James B. Stasson, Feraidoon Bourbour, Paul K. Scheper

  • Patent number: 5482070
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a convertible adjustable crutch/cane which is initially used as a crutch and subsequently used as a cane after the need for a crutch no longer exists. The crutch/cane includes a novel connector hand/grip support that is made of lightweight, high strength molded plastic. The connector hand/grip eliminates the need for complicated metal working steps previously required in known prior art devices. Additionally, there is disclosed a novel underarm support which is economical to produce requiring a minimum amount of material and is useful in a single support crutch.

  • Patent number: 5139040
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a crutch which is readily disassembled into a plurality manageable components which can be conveniently tucked away when not in use. The components can be easily adjusted to accommodate persons of different heights. A significant safety feature of the disclosure is the fact that each of the two release subassemblies is provided with a release pin sleeve that ensures a quick and efficient release of the release pin and subsequent re-engagement without the release pin hanging-up and thereby preventing injury to the user. A first embodiment discloses the height adjusting support member receiving both the upper and lower support members therein, while the second embodiment discloses the height adjusting member receiving only the upper support member therein with the lower support member receiving the height adjusting member therein.

  • Patent number: 4217952
Abstract: In a system having an electrical apparatus dissipating thermal energy, an apparatus compartment is provided to substantially surround the apparatus, and a blower, disposed in an inlet air compartment, forces air through the apparatus compartment to an exiting air directing assembly where the heated air is selectively directed to a building structure, or to the outside atmosphere. A temperature responsive control assembly selectively directs a portion of the exiting air to the building structure. Suction air to the blower is selectively provided from the building structure or from outside air, the selection of which is selected by another temperature responsive control assembly.
