Publication number: 20240012906Abstract: A method and system for apprising a consumer of an accumulated risk resulting from data breaches. The method and system may include determining one or more breach events for a consumer, generating an accumulated harm risk score for the consumer, optionally with the accumulated harm risk score providing a relative indicator of overall risk accumulated for the consumer as result of the breach events, identifying one or more potential harms for one or more of the breach events, optionally with the potential harms indicating a likely or probable impact, injury, or damage to the consumer from one or more of the breach events, and identifying one or more mitigation actions for one or more of the breach events, optionally with the mitigation actions detailing options available to the consumer for reducing risk associated with one or more of the potential harms.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2023Publication date: January 11, 2024Applicant: Sontiq, Inc.Inventors: James Van Dyke, Alphonse Pascual

Patent number: 11768934Abstract: A method and system for generating a consumer breach history profile of a consumer over an electronic network includes receiving via the network consumer profile information including at least one consumer information element corresponding to the consumer, generating a consumer breach history profile in a database using the consumer profile information, and associating the consumer breach history profile with the consumer profile information in the database. The database includes breach events, each breach event associated with at least one breached information element. Consumer profile information is matched to a respective breach event by determining a match between the consumer information element and the breached information element associated with the respective breach event. The respective breach event is associated in the database with the consumer breach history profile and a mitigation action. A notification to the consumer of the breach event and mitigation action is generated.Type: GrantFiled: October 26, 2020Date of Patent: September 26, 2023Assignee: Sontiq, Inc.Inventors: James Van Dyke, Alphonse Pascual

Patent number: 11593476Abstract: Assessing a consumer's risk of harms related to a data breach includes determining, for the particular data breach, a data breach score, referred to as a Breach Clarity™ (BC) score, indicative of the risk of harm related to the particular breach. A data structure pairs a breached information element with at least one potential harm. Algorithms assign a harm risk score to the harm, determine an element risk score for the information element-harm pair, and determine a BC score using the harm risk and element risk scores, and an exposure rating. The BC score can be modified by a scaling algorithm to generate a relative BC score. The system identifies and rank orders mitigation actions for the breach and outputs these with the BC score to the consumer. A consumer's demographic and/or behavioral characteristics can be factored into the exposure rating and ranking of the mitigation actions.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 2018Date of Patent: February 28, 2023Assignee: Sontiq, Inc.Inventor: James Van Dyke

Publication number: 20070038335Abstract: A system for dynamically managing an electrical power system that determines measures of performance and control criteria for the electric power system, collects at least one automatic generation control (AGC) input parameter to at least one AGC module and at least one automatic load control (ALC) input parameter to at least one ALC module, calculates AGC control signals and loads as resources (LAR) control signals in response to said measures of performance and control criteria, propagates AGC control signals to power generating units in response to control logic in AGC modules, and propagates LAR control signals to at least one LAR in response to control logic in ALC modules.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 21, 2006Publication date: February 15, 2007Inventors: Timothy McIntyre, Brendan Kirby, Roger Kisner, James Van Dyke

Publication number: 20060004536Abstract: The present invention systems and methods facilitate configuration of functional components included in a remotely located integrated circuit die. In one exemplary implementation, a die functional component reconfiguration request process is engaged in wherein a system requests a reconfiguration code from a remote centralized resource. A reconfiguration code production process is executed in which a request for a reconfiguration code and a permission indicator are received, validity of permission indicator is analyzed, and a reconfiguration code is provided if the permission indicator is valid. A die functional component configuration process is performed on the die when an appropriate reconfiguration code is received by the die. The functional component configuration process includes directing alteration of a functional component configuration. Workflow is diverted from disabled functional components to enabled functional components.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2003Publication date: January 5, 2006Inventors: Michael Diamond, John Montrym, James Van Dyke, Michael Nagy, Sean Treichler

Publication number: 20050261863Abstract: The present invention systems and methods enable configuration of functional components in integrated circuits. A present invention system and method can flexibly change the operational characteristics of functional components in an integrated circuit die based upon a variety of factors, including if the die has a defective component. An indication of the defective functional component identification is received. A determination is made if the defective functional component is one of a plurality of similar functional components that can provide the same functionality. The other similar components can be examined to determine if they are parallel components to the defective functional component. The defective functional component is disabled if it is one of the plurality of similar functional components and another component can handle the workflow that would otherwise be assigned to the defective component. Workflow is diverted from the disabled component to other similar functional components.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2003Publication date: November 24, 2005Inventors: James Van Dyke, John Montrym, Michael Nagy, Sean Treichler

Publication number: 20050251761Abstract: The present invention systems and methods enable configuration of functional components in integrated circuits. A present invention system and method can flexibly change the operational characteristics of functional components in an integrated circuit die based upon a variety of factors. In one embodiment, manufacturing yields, compatibility characteristics, performance requirements, and system health (e.g., the number of components operating properly) are factored into changes to the operational characteristics of functional components. In one exemplary implementation, the changes to operational characteristics of a functional component are coordinated with changes to other functional components. Workflow scheduling and distribution is also adjusted based upon the changes to the operational characteristics of the functional components. For example, a functional component configuration controller changes the operational characteristics settings and provides an indication to a workflow distribution component.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2003Publication date: November 10, 2005Inventors: Michael Diamond, John Montrym, James Van Dyke, Michael Nagy, Sean Treichler

Publication number: 20050251358Abstract: The present invention systems and methods facilitate increased die yields by flexibly changing the operational characteristics of functional components in an integrated circuit die. The present invention system and method enable integrated circuit chips with defective functional components to be salvaged. Defective functional components in the die are disabled in a manner that maintains the basic functionality of the chip. A chip is tested and a functional component configuration process is performed on the chip based upon results of the testing. If an indication of a defective functional component is received, the functional component is disabled. Workflow is diverted from disabled functional components to enabled functional components.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 18, 2003Publication date: November 10, 2005Inventors: James Van Dyke, John Montrym, Michael Nagy, Sean Treichler

Patent number: 4546438Abstract: A rheometer and process of curing and testing rubber samples precisely controls each cure and test. The maximum resistance, or more specifically, maximum torque at peak stress, is predicted for each sample automatically as curing progresses. Each cure and test is terminated as soon as maximum resistance is predicted, thereby shortening each cure and test from about one-quarter to one-third.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1983Date of Patent: October 8, 1985Assignee: The Goodyear Tire & Rubber CompanyInventors: William T. Prewitt, James A. Van Dyke
