  • Patent number: 7640834
Abstract: Systems and methods for trimming a roll of sheet material are provided. A representative system incorporates a core anchor that is configured to be inserted into the hollow core of a roll of sheet material and removably secured therein. The system also includes a cutting tool rotatably attached to the core anchor. During trimming of a roll of sheet material to which the core anchor is secured, the core anchor rotates with the roll as the roll is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4799840
Abstract: A cargo restraining device suitable for restraining barrel-shaped containers or drums is disclosed, which includes a platform, which is spaced from the underlying supporting surface or floor, by horizontal supporting members which extend the length of at least the flat portion of the platform, so as to provide a raised deck for the containers. At one end of the platform, an upright or vertical frame is connected to the supporting members, to prevent the containers from falling off the platform. The other end of the platform can be rounded over to define a snub-nose; or alternatively the other ends of the horizontal supporting members can project beyond the platform (which is otherwise flat) and be rounded into snub-nosed portions. In consequence, should the drums shift or move, whereby damage might ordinarily occur, the chimes or rims of the drums tend to flow around the snub-nose (or snub-noses if defined at the supporting members) without any significant damage.

  • Patent number: 4515506
Abstract: A cargo restraining device for a palletized load including a platform for receiving a pallet with a load of cargo thereon, and a vertical frame at one end of the platform. A handle is pivotally secured to the frame and connected to a horizontally-extending member which is movable to place it in frictional contact with a floor or supporting surface. When the pallet is placed on the platform, it can be locked in place by a serrated member which engages a cross-tie of the pallet. To lock the pallet and platform to the floor, the handle is pushed downwardly while at the same time pushing the frame toward the load. Movement of the handle, which pivots about a hinge pivotally connected to the frame, moves the horizontally-extending member into contact with the supporting surface and at the same time lifts and tilts the platform, which adds an augmented downward force on the horizontally-extending member in contact with the supporting surface.

  • Patent number: 4461160
Abstract: A lock mechanism is disclosed for use with sliding, swinging or overhead doors. A receiver is affixed to the door frame and a bolt, linkage and handle are affixed to the door. The linkage allows the bolt to engage the receiver by sliding along the receiver until it becomes latched so that the door may be closed though the handle is locked. Pulling upon the unlocked handle retracts the bolt from the receiver and also causes the door to start opening.

  • Patent number: 4270379
Abstract: Apparatus that is used to expand a collapsed hollow core of a damaged roll which includes an expandable bullet, uniformly expandable along its length by hydraulic cylinders, after being pulled into the core by means of a hollow piston ram and a drawbar. The bullet has an unexpanded cross-section of a football-like shape the area of which is about 10% less than the cross-sectional area of the hole in the undeformed core, allowing over expansion of the bullet which pulls the sides of the core in to form connecting chords. Add-on shells for larger cores are adaptable to the expandable base bullet.

  • Patent number: 4241595
Abstract: An improved bolt mechanism for use in a rotary lock has a fixed transverse pin and a spring biased movable transverse pin. The movable pin may be retracted within the body of the bolt under the action of a key inserted into the lock. The protrusion mechanism comprises a shaft inside the bolt a portion of which is conical. A conical member is likewise attached to the spring biased transverse pin cooperating with the conical member of the shaft thereby allowing the external end of the transverse pin to be moved flush with the external surface of the bolt or to extend transversely therefrom. When the movable pin extends transversely from the bolt, the bolt is retained between key plates in the lock. When the movable pin is retracted, the bolt may be moved longitudinally along its axis through the key plates to unlock the lock.

  • Patent number: 4075877
Abstract: A lock assembly is provided for securing ends of a chain. One end of the chain is secured to a locking post while the other end is secured to a locking cap. The locking post has a longitudinal bore and a plurality of circular ribs near one end of the post. A plurality of open-ended longitudinal slots are provided which intersect the ribs. The locking cap has a plurality of spring biased locking rings positioned within the cap. To lock the assembly, the end of the lockng post with the ribs is inserted into the locking cap until the ribs engage the locking rings. A spring loaded piston is provided in the longitudinal bore of the locking post to keep the interior of the post free from dirt and ice and also to assist in unlocking the assembly.

  • Patent number: 3994521
Abstract: A locking means for providing a seal comprising a locking shell formed with a central passageway which is internally tapered with an opening that changes from conical to triangular in shape and which carries spring loaded ball bearings and a retainer such that a cable can be inserted through the central opening in a first direction, thus, depressing the spring and allowing the balls to relieve pressure on the cable in said first direction but which provides substantial and locking pressure on the cable when the cable is placed under tension in the opposite direction. The cable may also be attached to a second fixed member such that a seal may be made by placing the locking case and the fixed member on the same cable.
