  • Patent number: 8971073
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for providing a high efficiency bypass circuit for multi-stage direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converters used in battery powered systems. When the system is operating in a battery mode, the vehicle power source is unplugged from the power supply input connector and the external battery is connected in its place. The system uses a relay to bypass the flyback converter so as to connect the boost converter output directly to the output terminals. The system uses a single control signal to: 1) energize the relay connecting the boost converter output directly to the output terminals, 2) adjust the boost converter circuit to cause the boost converter to deliver a voltage equal to what the flyback converter would have delivered, and 3) disable the flyback converter.

  • Patent number: 5783872
Abstract: A battery temperature compensation circuit for a DC/DC converter which is used to charge an auxiliary battery for an electric vehicle and including, among other things, a voltage sensitive resistance, such as a thermistor, coupled to a clamped voltage divider network which generates a resistance vs. temperature characteristic so as to control the DC/DC converter and provide an output voltage for charging the auxiliary battery which matches the voltage vs. temperature profile of the battery.

  • Patent number: 5167388
Abstract: A unique cable mounting system is disclosed for use at dockside. Brackets may be spaced along the length of the cables to keep them in a secure position relative to the dock and a boat. The brackets may be easily and quickly moved from a release position where the cables may be mounted or removed, to a secure position which tightly secures the cables within the brackets.

  • Patent number: 4067098
Abstract: A method of manufacturing brake drums or the like and apparatus therefor that minimizes scrap rates by improving as-manufactured balance. In accordance with the disclosed method, the casting rim of the brake drum is located in a press by centering the drum relative to its outer surface. Locating holes are then accurately formed in the drum center by the press prior to machining of the drum inner surface. The subsequent machining operation on the drum inner surface is accomplished by locating the drum accurately via the locating holes formed in the press operation.
