  • Patent number: 11424546
Abstract: A geodesic antenna includes an outer cone. The geodesic antenna also includes an inner cone positioned partially within the outer cone and, together with the outer cone, defining an electromagnetic waveguide. The geodesic antenna further includes multiple driven elements configured to generate electromagnetic waves in a space between the outer and inner cones. In addition, the geodesic antenna includes a ground plane configured to reflect first electromagnetic waves of the generated electromagnetic waves back into the space between the outer and inner cones. The ground plane has a geometric design that prevents at least some second electromagnetic waves of the generated electromagnetic waves from being reflected from the ground plane and forming an interferometer pattern.

    Assignee: Raytheon Company
Inventors: Allen J. Andreu, James W. Culver, Carlos R. Costas, Daniel P. Jones, Ryan C. Lewandowski

  • Publication number: 20220166130
Abstract: An apparatus for mitigating element pattern ripple includes an inner cone, an outer cone, at least one driven element, and at least one director. The outer cone is coupled to the inner cone. The at least one driving element is coupled to the outer cone and is configured to produce at least one primary ray. The at least one director is coupled to the outer cone and is configured to direct the at least one primary ray. The inner cone and the outer cone may be concentric. The at least one driven element may include multiple driven elements. The at least one director may include multiple directors. A number of directors may be equal to a number of driven elements.

  • Patent number: 6885264
Abstract: A meandered-line bandpass filter includes a parallel coupled line bandpass filter that has a length and one or more corners. Each of the corners is associated with a reactance that affects the propagation of an electromagnetic wave along the length of the parallel coupled line bandpass filter.

  • Patent number: 6750736
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a planar transmission line transition system includes a coplanar waveguide transmission line that includes a first electrical path and a second electrical path. The planar transmission line transition system also includes a transmission line stub electrically connected in series to the first electrical path of the coplanar waveguide transmission line, wherein a signal output at a first connection of the transmission line stub is phase delayed approximately 180 degrees with respect to a signal input at a second connection of the transmission line stub. The planar transmission line transition system further includes a transmission line electrically connected to the second electrical path of the coplanar waveguide transmission line and the first connection of the transmission line stub.

  • Patent number: 6657518
Abstract: According to one embodiment of the invention, a notch filter circuit includes a coplanar waveguide that includes a silicon substrate and at least one shunt stub bent at an angle to the coplanar waveguide. The notch filter circuit also includes at least one capacitor bridging at least one discontinuity of the shunt stub.

  • Patent number: 5387887
Abstract: A digitally controlled programmable transversal filter (DCPTF) employing a lithium niobate surface acoustic wave (SAW) delay line and two large scale integration (LSI) gallium arsenide integrated circuits to digitally control the magnitude and sign of the 32 tap weights from the delay line. The DCPTF results in a significant reduction in size over the prior art with little sacrifice in performance. The DCPTF is completely programmable and is constrained only by the bandwidth and the number of taps.
