  • Publication number: 20140172424
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for using the hardware and/or software of the mobile device to obscure speech in the audio data before a context determination is made by a context awareness application using the audio data. In particular, a subset of a continuous audio stream is captured such that speech (words, phrases and sentences) cannot be reliably reconstructed from the gathered audio. The subset is analyzed for audio characteristics, and a determination can be made regarding the ambient environment.
    Type: Application
    Filed: February 21, 2014
    Publication date: June 19, 2014
    Applicant: QUALCOMM Incorporated
Inventors: Leonard Henry Grokop, Vidya Narayanan, James W. Dolter, Sanjiv Nanda

  • Patent number: 8290069
Abstract: A system and method for media access control are disclosed. The method comprises providing concurrent orthogonal channels to access media using pulse division multiple access to define pulse positions, wherein the pulse division multiple access includes a time hopping sequence and an offset to distinguish the concurrent orthogonal channels. In addition, the method comprises processing signals associated with at least one of the orthogonal channels.

  • Publication number: 20020165717
Abstract: The invention provides a method and system for extracting information from text documents. A document intake module receives and stores a plurality of text documents for processing, an input format conversion module converts each document into a standard format for processing, an extraction module identifies and extracts desired information from each text document, and an output format conversion module converts the information extracted from each document into a standard output format. These modules operate simultaneously on multiple documents in a pipeline fashion so as to maximize the speed and efficiency of extracting information from the plurality of documents.

  • Patent number: 5892916
Abstract: A system and method for network management, including a message handling process, having a network manager and at least one network element is described. The network management messaging system sends and receives multiple concurrent messages between the network element layer and the network management layer. Support of concurrent messaging greatly speeds and simplifies network management. A client request is received at a first managed object, at least part of the client request is fulfilled by a second managed object. A major row is created in response to receiving the client request, and a minor row associated with a managed object request sent to the second managed object. The minor row has an index that associates the minor row with the major row, and correlates a response to the managed object request with the client request.
