  • Publication number: 20240010801
Abstract: A method of manufacturing fluoropolymer micropowders with low perfluoroalkyl species (PFAS) content, such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The method includes thermally treating, at a temperature from 125° C. to 300° C. Ma substantially oxygen free atmosphere and/or in a fluidized bed reactor, an irradiated or thermally degraded perfluorinated fluoropolymer. The method may also include micronizing the thermally treated low molecular weight fluoropolymer intermediate to provide a micropowder.
