Publication number: 20140324320Abstract: Methods and systems are described for conserving energy used by an energy consuming device. In certain embodiments, an energy conservation system can be configured to deliver energy to the energy consuming device for a period, followed by a period where energy delivery is dampened and/or cut. By cycling the delivery of energy in this fashion, the energy conservation can achieve a pulsed efficiency.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: October 30, 2014Applicant: FUEL SAVING TECHNOLOGIES, LLCInventors: Jeffrey N. Yu, James W. Hill, Gregory W. Davis

Patent number: 8627673Abstract: An atmospheric water harvester includes a cooling member over which humid air flows to condense moisture from the atmosphere. The cooling member may be the evaporator of a conventional, gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit. If a gas vapor-based refrigeration circuit is used, the compressor of the circuit may be variable speed. A fan or impeller used to move air through the system may also be variable speed. A preferred embodiment includes a variable flow geometry thermal economizer section configured such that, to varying degrees, the incoming air may be pre-cooled, before it passes over the cooling member, by heat exchange with colder air that has already flowed over the cooling member.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2008Date of Patent: January 14, 2014Assignee: Water Generating Systems LLCInventors: James W. Hill, Christopher G. Preston, Michael D. Max

Publication number: 20120245952Abstract: Methods of crowdsourcing medical expert information are described. One such method includes receiving, from a first user during a first session over a network, a first query that includes a request for information regarding a patient condition, a therapy, and/or a medical test, and transmitting the query to a plurality of medical personnel. The first query further includes first session parameters selected by the first user from categories displayed by a processor to the first user. The method also includes receiving responses to the query from the plurality of medical personnel, and changing, based on the responses, an assigned probability of presenting to an index user, in response to a second query and during another session, at least one of a suggested diagnosis, a suggested therapy, a suggested inquiry to aid in establishing a diagnosis, a suggested medical test, a recommended source for further information, or a recommended medical professional.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2012Publication date: September 27, 2012Applicant: University of RochesterInventors: Marc W. Publication number: 20080031483Abstract: An insulated cooler has an outer housing, an inner lining and an insulation layer between the housing and lining. The inner lining forms a first storage compartment and along one wall of the lining forms a second audio system docking station compartment. The audio system can be removed and replaced in the docking station. A pair of speakers on the exterior housing positioned within the insulation layer is connected through an amplifier to the audio system in the docking station compartment. An internal RF receiver and an external RF transmitter control the audio system. A battery power source drives the amplifier and can recharge the audio system power source. A solar cell on the outside lid of the cooler can recharge the battery power source.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2006Publication date: February 7, 2008Inventor: James W. Hill

Patent number: 6933844Abstract: A security seal for a freight car, freight container or other enclosure. The seal has an electronic timepiece which displays the time and date and is preset at an established reference time. A cut-resistant strap is secured at one end to the seal and has a latch at the other end. When the latch is passed through a lock and is engaged in a receiver in the seal, the strap is locked in place and the power to the timepiece is interrupted providing an indication of the time and date on which the lock was sealed. Other information may be applied to the seal at the time of sealing such as the identification of the individual responsible for the sealing.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 2003Date of Patent: August 23, 2005Inventors: Quent Augspurger, James W. Patent number: 5526708Abstract: An adapter for rapid attachment and removal of a flanged motor on a power driven appliance. A bracket attaches to the appliance and cooperatively receives the motor flange. Pins incorporating clips or expanding projections then secure the motor to the appliance. A shaft-to-shaft connector is then secured in place on the shafts, thus coupling the motor output shaft and appliance power input shaft. The connector may include pins inserted through aligned bores in the connector and the shafts. In a preferred embodiment, the connector may comprise mating forward and rear components sandwiching a resilient member therebetween, which arrangement accommodates minor angular and parallel misalignment. In other alternative embodiments, the connector comprises a splined collar slidable over splined output and input shafts, and a clutch and drum arrangement. For belt driven appliances, the motor output shaft terminates in a pulley, or is coupled to a shaft having a pulley and attached to the appliance.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 1994Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Inventor: James W.
