  • Publication number: 20140092754
Abstract: A method is disclosed. The method includes capturing a first packet at a network monitoring card, capturing the first packet at a first filter, generating a first tag corresponding to the first filter and storing the first packet in memory with the first tag.

  • Publication number: 20140092756
Abstract: A time marker for a data packet stream is generated. The packets are grouped into a block based on the time marker. The block of data packets is stored in a memory. A block of the data packets can be terminated based on the time marker. A block header is generated for the block. Statistics associated with the packet stream is captured based on the time marker.

  • Publication number: 20140092900
Abstract: Exemplary embodiments of methods and apparatuses to split incoming data into a plurality of sub-channels to allow parallel processing are described. A packet is received over a network. The packet is compared against a filter. The packet is routed to a process sub-channel in a memory based on the comparing. The process sub-channel is one of the plurality of process sub-channels that are configured to allow parallel processing. In one embodiment, the filter includes user defined criteria for the packet.

  • Patent number: 8089869
Abstract: Duplicate packet detection and discard employs hash values and time stamps of received packet data, wherein the hash value is employed as an index to a table, and if data at a table entry has a time stamp near a time of the packet data, a duplicate is determined.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 25, 2009
Date of Patent: January 3, 2012
    Assignee: Fluke Corporation
Inventors: James W Kisela, Steven Koller
  • Patent number: 7653842
Abstract: An automatic CRC format detection and selection device observes FCS errors during an interval, incrementing counts thereof. When a determination is made that an error count threshold has been met, the CRC format may be automatically changed in order to enable CRC format detection and switching without requiring a user to have knowledge of the format or how to accomplish its change.

Date of Patent: January 26, 2010
    Assignee: Fluke Corporation
Inventors: James W Kisela, Mike Treseler
