  • Patent number: 4185208
Abstract: The circuit breaker is taught with an anti-pumping control circuit. If the circuit breaker closes on a fault and quickly reopens without the closing switch being either mechanically or electrically released in the interim, reclosure of the circuit breaker either by an automatic reclosure or by the mere fact that the closing switch remains closed will be prevented until the closing switch is once again opened. In addition, if the closing switch is actuated prior to power being applied to the circuit breaker control system, the circuit breaker will not close when power is applied. The closing spring will be charged, however, for a subsequent circuit breaker closing after release and reactuation of the closing switch.

  • Patent number: 4176262
Abstract: A mechanism-operated cell switch (MOC) is provided for metal-clad switchgear. The cell switch actuates an auxiliary set of contacts for the main circuit interrupter. The main circuit interrupter may be disposed in two positions within the metal enclosed switchgear. In the first position it is connected to the high voltage terminals of the cell for external circuit protection. In the second position it is not connected to the high voltage terminals but nevertheless remains in the cell for test purposes. In either position the mechanism operated cell switch may be actuated in conjunction with the actuation of the main circuit interrupter. However, in the second or test position the mechanism operated cell switch may be bypassed if desired.

  • Patent number: 4150271
Abstract: A load type circuit switch of the kind requiring a minimum time delay between the closing thereof and opening thereof is taught. The minimum time delay is utilized to allow a separate circuit clearing apparatus to completely interrupt overload current in the event the switch contacts are closed upon an overload. The time delay is provided by a removable manual spring charging handle which is collapsible or non-operable in one direction of movement. The handle is rectangularly shaped and is inserted in a rectangular opening in a movable hub of a spring charging mechanism. The handle is insertable into the rectangular opening in an orientation which is appropriate to allow charging of the spring for the closing operation. After the closing operation, attempted movement of the handle in the opposite direction will cause collapse thereof thus preventing recharging of the spring for a subsequent circuit breaker contact opening operation.
