  • Publication number: 20240108433
Abstract: Devices and methods for improved access to a surgical site are the basis of the present disclosure. The improved access can be provided by way of a displacement wrap that can be used to engage tissue that impedes access to the surgical site. The displacement wrap, which can be a textile, can be wrapped around the tissue and subsequently manipulated to move the wrap, and thus the tissue, out of the way to improve access. The displacement wrap includes locking features formed in it that allow for selective tensioning of the tissue being engaged and moved. The locking features can engage another portion of the wrap and/or can be engaged by another component associated with the wrap, such as a locking suture. Methods of using the wrap in various surgical procedures that would benefit from moving tissue to improve surgical site access are also provided.

  • Patent number: 10857346
Abstract: The breakaway assembly includes a first breakaway subassembly and a second breakaway subassembly. The subassemblies are configured to connect, which causes bellows sheaths in each subassembly to compress and open pores, allowing fluid to flow through the subassemblies. The subassemblies can be connected to luer tip. The luer tips can be connected to an intravenous (IV) fluid line or other types of lines used in the medical field to move fluids. This allows the movement of fluid from a fluid-holding component to a patient. Unless the subassemblies are locked together, the subassemblies will be disconnected under the correct amount of pressure. This disconnection closes the pores on the subassemblies, which keeps fluid from leaking, and prevents the contamination of the IV line. Luer tips may also be connected to the subassemblies. Some of the luer tips allow for the quick connection of the luer tip to the subassembly through a flange being inserted into a notch or flange acceptor.

  • Patent number: 7425245
Abstract: This invention is directed to improvements in fibrous sheets, such as paper, incorporating an elongate impermeable element, to a method of making such paper and to documents made therefrom. The method comprises the steps of bringing an elongate flexible element into contact with a moving support surface, and depositing fibers onto the support surface to form a fibrous sheet which travels in a machine direction. The said support surface has spaced portions which prevent the substantial deposition of fibers at those portions and form windows at spaced locations in at least one surface of the sheet. The deposition of fibers is carried out in such a manner that as fibers are deposited onto the support surface the elongate element is incorporated in the sheet with regions of the element at least partially exposed at at least one surface of the sheet at said windows. At least a leading edge of the spaced portions is at an angle, in the plane of the sheet, which is not 90° to the machine direction.
