  • Patent number: 9225707
Abstract: A method includes receiving, by an orchestrator component from a client computer, a request to activate an application in a cloud. The orchestrator component is a part of a cloud computing infrastructure hosted on a network connected to the client computer. The request to activate the application includes user credentials for access to user accounts including a user account with a cloud storage that stores a file for the user. The method further includes sending, by the orchestrator component to an application VM executing an instance of the application in the cloud, the user credentials specifically for access by the application VM to the user's account with the cloud storage drive. The method additionally includes using the user credentials to access the file stored in the cloud storage as and when needed for processing the file by the instance of the application executing in the application VM in the cloud.

  • Publication number: 20150283750
Abstract: A method and apparatus for extrusion of an article is provided. A die assembly can apply flows of thermoplastic material to an array of reinforcing cables to form a composite extrusion. A slider fabric can be bonded to one side of the composite extrusion. After exiting the die assembly, the slider fabric can act to support the extrudate as it passes along an elongate mandrel, which can cause the base of the slider fabric to change shape from a flat profile to the final internal profile of the article. The extruded article can then be cooled to solidify the material. The die can include cooling for the slider fabric and means for promoting penetration of the thermoplastic into reinforcing cables.

  • Publication number: 20080274224
Abstract: An injection nozzle is provided having a nozzle body, defining an inlet channel, an outlet channel and a connecting channel therebetween for communicating a working fluid into and out of the nozzle body. A shut-off pin is slidably mounted within the nozzle body and having a spigot mounted thereto. The shut-off pin is movable between a closed position, where the working fluid is substantially blocked from moving from the inlet channel to the outlet channel, and an open position where the spigot is withdrawn, unblocking the working fluid from moving from the inlet channel to the outlet channel. An actuator is operably connected to the shut-off pin to move the shut-off pin from the open position to the closed position. Moving the shut-off pin from the open position to the closed position generates a region of low pressure in the working fluid in the portion of working fluid trailing the spigot.

  • Patent number: 7291297
Abstract: In a reciprocating (RS) injection unit environment, as shown in FIG. 1, a controller of the injection unit is arranged to continuously rotate the screw during both conventional plasticizing operation and shot injection. In this way the RS unit is more efficient, utilizing less energy and producing greater resin output. The injection unit includes a non-return valve adjacent a nozzle, which non-return valve is either configured to rotate with the screw to reduce wear or presented as a ball check style noon-return valve. In an injection molding environment, the rotating screw includes flights that allow granules of resin to melt and mix in spaces between adjacent flights, but the flights are arranged substantially to inhibit excessive displacement of resin around the flights.

  • Patent number: 5162698
Abstract: A cascaded magnetron device has an elongate cathode shank extending along its axis and a series of tubular anode elements placed end to end in a linear cascade surrounding the cathode shank along at least part of its length. Each adjacent pair of anode elements is separated by a conductive, annular pin down disc, and the cathode shank has a series of spaced bands of field emitting material separated by non-emitting regions, each band being located within a respective one of the anode elements and spaced inwardly from the ends of that element. Suitable power inputs and magnetic field generators are provided for generating electron emission and oscillation in the interaction zone between each emitting band and the anode element surrounding that band, and suitable extraction devices are provided for extracting power from each of the interaction zones, the arrangement producing phase-locking of the cascaded magnetron bodies.
