  • Publication number: 20240067161
Abstract: A vehicle determines a surface deviance on a road ahead of the vehicle and towards which the vehicle is traveling. The vehicle determines an adjustment to an adaptive ride-height system of the vehicle to change a vehicle ground-clearance, the adjustment determined based at least on a dimension associated with the deviance and, prior to reaching the deviance, adjusts the adaptive ride-height system in accordance with the determined adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20030221759
Abstract: A multi-piece rim assembly for a pneumatic tire comprises a substantially cylindrical rim base with opposite annular ends and a pair of side flanges at the opposite annular ends. At least one of the flanges is shrink-fitted in position, thereby to counteract relative rotation between the flange and the rim base. Preferably both of the side flanges are shrink-fitted in position. A method of manufacturing a multi-piece rim assembly is also provided which comprises the step of shrink-fitting one or both of the flanges in position.

  • Patent number: 5845272
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for isolating failures in a locomotive. In the present invention, the cause of failures occurring in the locomotive sub-systems are determined quickly and efficiently, while minimizing the need for human interaction. However, the present invention can incorporate information provided by an operator to produce a more refined diagnosis. In the present invention, incidents are recorded in an incident log and mapped to indicators, which are sent to a fault isolator for diagnosis. The fault isolator uses a diagnostic knowledge base having diagnostic information between failures occurring in locomotive and observable symptoms happening therein. A diagnostic engine then processes the mapped indicators with the diagnostic information in the diagnostic knowledge base and produces a list of the most likely causes for any failures. The present invention then provides a course of action to correct the failures.

  • Patent number: 5644317
Abstract: An automatic vehicle location system (10) includes a radio positioning system receiver (14) which receives GPS radio signals (18) and includes a two-gimbaled gyroscope (22), which is used by a dead-reckoning positioning system. A controller (43) determines position based upon the radio positioning system when the radio signals (18) are available and upon dead-reckoning when the radio signals (18) are not available. The dead-reckoning process is based upon a compensation factor which is established in response to data received from the radio positioning system (14). The compensation factor acts as an adjustment to an inner gimbal angle to compensate for a minor drift away from level by the inner gimbal (32).
