  • Patent number: 12000720
Abstract: The present invention defines six unexpected benefits resulting from the automation of and improvements to inventory reconciliation and tank level monitoring at tank farms, terminals and refineries, commonly associated with refining and the transportation of, hydrocarbon fuels. In the implementation of an automated system for tank level monitoring and periodic inventory reconciliation, it has been discovered that both applications can be used to correctly identify maintenance needs and policy violations that were previously unable to be identified. The benefits include identification of thermal relief valve failure, transmix check valve failure, lock out/tag out failure, floating roof landing, and incorrect tank assignments.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: June 4, 2024
    Assignee: MARATHON PETROLEUM COMPANY LP
Inventors: Gerald E. Langlois, III, Hubie M. Bartlett, James Wilhelm, Mike Huber, Daniel Leslie, Timothy E. Heck

  • Publication number: 20070294164
Abstract: Temporarily increasing a credit limit of the credit account to accommodate a purchase by a buyer for goods and/or services from a merchant. An account management module can receive a request to increase the credit limit via an interface. The request can include information regarding the purchase and information regarding the credit limit increase, including an amount by which to increase the credit limit. The request also can include rules for decreasing the credit limit at the end of the credit limit increase term. The account management module can process the credit limit increase and decrease, in accordance with the request. The account management module also can transmit an email to the merchant with credit account information needed to process the purchase. For example, the email can include a link to a web site at which the merchant can obtain the credit account information upon successful completion of an authentication procedure.

  • Publication number: 20070231230
Abstract: A process of using solutions containing thiosulfate and/or chloride salt reagents to remove SO3 and H2SO4 acid gases from a flue gas. The solution is injected into a moving volume of flue gas to achieve a droplet size that enables the solution to dry on contact with the flue gas, generating dried particles of the reagent that react with the SO3 and H2SO4 acid gases yielding a salt precipitate. SO2 present in the flue gas may also be absorbed with the solution, with a subsequent reaction yielding bisulfite species that, upon drying of the droplet, react with the SO3 and H2SO4 acid gases to form salts that are removed from the gas. The removal of these acid gases from a flue gas reduce corrosion of equipment used in coal or oil fired power plants downstream of the injection cite.
