  • Publication number: 20040232064
Abstract: A cartridge filter is provided having a housing body, a sump releasably attached to the housing body, and a filter cartridge within the housing body releasably attached to the housing body by a screw connection. The sump is attached to the housing body by a separate screw connection. The screw connection includes a first screw formation on the sump having a sloped screw surface and, at the leading end, a lug projecting above the sloped screw surface. A second screw formation is also provided on the housing body having a sloped screw surface along which the lug can run. A further projection is positioned on the housing body to engage the leading end of said first screw formation and to deflect the lug so that the first screw formation hooks over the trailing end of the second screw formation, when the connection is fully tightened.

  • Publication number: 20030199257
Abstract: A control system for a linear feed-forward amplifier, using the ratio of measured spurious energy. Measuring receivers are coupled to two monitoring points to measure the spurious energy content in the error signal and at the main output of a feed-forward amplifier. The control system measures the ratio of these detected spurious, and uses this to optimize the settings of the second loop distortion cancellation. With the addition of an extra monitoring point, the same technique may also be used to control an adaptive predistorter prior to the main amplifier.

  • Patent number: 6138942
Abstract: A reel or spool for winding or unwinding of cable, wire, or the like includes a hub having a cylindrical wall defining an outer barrel surface and an axial end wall suitable for the application of labels or other identification indicia. A flange extends radially from the outer barrel adjacent each end wall. The flanges have a plurality of integrally formed, radially extending ribs disposed on their outer surface. The connection between the ribs, the axial end wall and the barrel surface of the hub being within the radial extent of the cylindrical wall. In one form of the invention, the hub includes an inclined wall connecting the cylindrical wall, the axial end wall and the ribs.

  • Patent number: 6077448
Abstract: An interceptor tank for primary treatment of rainwater runoff which may contain a variety of pollutants. The tank is a multi-chambered device which provides a partial separation of the pollutants contained in the effluent rainwater. A bypass system prevents overload of the tank during periods of heavy inflow conditions. Under low inlet flow conditions, an orifice in the bypass system functions to allow the effluent to drop into the first chamber which serves as a trash and debris collector. The effluent passes from the first chamber to a second chamber where free petroleum based products are separated and held. The effluent from the second chamber passes into a third chamber where sediment is separated from the effluent. The effluent from the third chamber may be fed back into the bypass conduit to be fed into a sewer system or alternately through an aperture in one of the exterior walls of the last chamber to a sewer.

  • Patent number: 5705789
Abstract: A beam scanning system and attached system of beam stabilization is utilized for ensuring the parallel transport of a scanned orthogonally deflected coherent light beam. A first scanning stage with right angle reflecting mirror scans the beam in the X-direction and reflects the scanned beam to the Y-direction. A second scanning stage with right angle reflecting mirror is mounted to the first scanning stage. This second scanning stage deflects the scanning beam in the Y-direction and reflects the beam downward. The scanning beam has divided out a small portion thereof as a reference beam. This reference beam is then diverted to precisely opposite orthogonal paths to the incidence of the scanning beam. The precise opposite orthogonal reference path results in upward deflection of the reference beam. After upward deflection, the reference beam is reflected at an optical flat and reflected back through the reference path. After retracing the orthogonal reference legs, the beam is diverted to a quad detector.

  • Patent number: 5675762
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for providing exchange of data between a peripheral device having a paging mechanism and an application operating in a virtual machine which includes a page directory for exclusive use by the paging mechanism of the peripheral device. The virtual machine is running on a data processing system and preferably contains a block of memory which is divided into various sections of memory. The page directory is provided to the paging mechanism of the peripheral device when the application requires the use of the peripheral device. A section of memory is selectively locked down in response to the section of memory being utilized by the application. Additionally, the page directory is updated with an entry which identifies the section of memory that is locked down. Memory may also be locked down in order to permit the peripheral device to access that section of memory.

  • Patent number: 5396597
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the enhancing efficiency of a data processing system which includes a host microprocessor, a system memory, and a graphics adapter for producing an enhanced graphics display. The graphics adapter is coupled to the data processing system by a bus and includes a video memory and an adapter microprocessor, wherein the adapter microprocessor is less powerful than the host microprocessor in the data processing system. The method and apparatus of the present invention includes the establishment of a stage buffer from a portion of the system memory with the stage buffer, including at least two buffer sections. A first portion of data is transferred from the system memory into a first buffer section.
