  • Publication number: 20090217036
Abstract: In a digital rights management (DRM) scheme a mobile terminal (1) registered with mobile telecommunications network (3) obtains encrypted content data (26) from content provider (21) and a rights object (28) containing a license to use that data from rights issuer (23). The mobile terminal (1) is associated with mobile terminal (11), PC (25) and PDA (27) in a domain. Various arrangements are disclosed for enabling a second device to consume the content data (26) received by the device (1). The content data (26) is consumed on the second device in a controlled manner. The second device may or may not be a member of the domain (24). The first device may enable the second device to temporarily join the domain (24), if the second device is not a member of the domain (24), in order to allow the second device to consume the content. In another embodiment the first and second devices may already be a member of the same domain (24).

  • Publication number: 20090101669
Abstract: An apparatus for dispensing a viscous material includes a dispenser body having an inlet and a discharge orifice. A valve element is mounted for movement in the dispenser body between an open position allowing flow from the discharge orifice, and a closed position preventing flow therefrom. An actuator is coupled to the valve element for actuation between the open and closed positions. A heat exchanger having a serpentine passage and a heater is coupled thereto, wherein the heater is in thermal communication with the dispenser body. The passage is configured to deliver the viscous material to the inlet at a uniform temperature. A method of dispensing a viscous material includes positioning a heat exchanger, having a fluid passage and a heater, in thermal communication with the dispenser body, and heating the material flowing through the fluid passage to a uniform temperature prior to delivering it to the inlet.

  • Publication number: 20090099576
Abstract: A medical system that allows a mentor to teach a pupil how to use a robotically controlled medical instrument. The system may include a first handle that can be controlled by a mentor to move the medical instrument. The system may further have a second handle that can be moved by a pupil to control the same instrument. Deviations between movement of the handles by the mentor and the pupil can be provided as force feedback to the pupil and mentor handles. The force feedback pushes the pupil's hand to correspond with the mentor's handle movement. The force feedback will also push the mentor's hand to provide information to the mentor on pupil's movements. The mentor is thus able to guide the pupil's hands through force feedback of the pupil handles to teach the pupil how to use the system.

  • Patent number: 7507199
Abstract: A system for performing minimally invasive cardiac procedures includes a pair of surgical instruments that are coupled to a pair of robotic arms. The instruments have end effectors that can be manipulated to hold and suture tissue. The robotic arms are coupled to a pair of master handles by a controller. The handles can be moved by the surgeon to produce a corresponding movement of the end effectors. The system may also have a robotically controlled endoscope which allows the surgeon to remotely view the surgical site.

  • Publication number: 20090012553
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for attaching or maintaining the position of a therapeutic or diagnostic device in a body lumen, such as the GI tract without necessarily requiring any penetrating attachments through any body walls. The system can include at least two elements: a proximal orientation element and a distal support element. The proximal orientation element can be configured to reside at least partially within the esophageal lumen and the distal support element can be configured to reside in the stomach, such as along the greater curve of the stomach. An intragastric support system can have a first configuration in which the long axis of the proximal orientation element is substantially parallel and/or substantially coaxial with the long axis of the distal support element, and a second configuration in which the long axis of the proximal orientation element is not substantially coaxial with the long axis of the distal support element.

  • Publication number: 20090012544
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for treating a patient that has undergone a bariatric surgical procedure, to promote weight loss in the patient. The systems and methods can involve positioning a gastrointestinal bypass sleeve within a portion of the altered GI anatomy to create or restore a restriction, and/or create a malabsorptive effect via a gastric and partial intestinal bypass. The bypass sleeve can include a proximal attachment element for attaching the proximal end of the sleeve in a penetrating or non-penetrating manner at the gastroesophageal junction, stomach, neo-stomach, or other locations. The bypass can be placed during the same operative session as the bariatric surgical procedure, or alternatively at a later date.

  • Publication number: 20080270782
Abstract: When a secure boot operation fails, the operation of a mobile telecommunications terminal can be severely impacted. In order to lower the impact on the user, one example embodiment of the invention relates to a method for automatically implementing a “safe boot” mode, whereby code can be accessed solely for the purpose of handling failed operations and if necessary providing limited services from the failing terminal.

  • Publication number: 20080167610
Abstract: Disclosed herein are elongate flexible medical devices which are capable of axial elongation through the mechanism of eversion or toposcopic expansion. In general, this may be accomplished by providing a flexible tubular device having a proximal end and a distal end. Retraction of the distal end in a proximal direction through the tubular body inverts the tube upon itself, causing an axial shortening of the overall length of the device. The original length of the device can be restored by coupling a pressurized media to the proximal end of the sleeve. If the distal end of the sleeve is temporarily restricted or closed, the pressurized media causes the distal end of the sleeve to travel distally until the full length of the sleeve has been restored.

  • Publication number: 20080115136
Abstract: A transfer of control to a batch application is intercepted, wherein a batch front-end routine receives control in place of the batch application and performs initialization processing. This initialization processing comprises issuing a DLI restart call and issuing a DLI checkpoint call. If the DLI restart call returns a checkpoint ID, then one or more databases associated with the batch application are repositioned. The transfer of control to the batch application is then resumed, whereby the batch application restarts from the checkpoint ID, if the checkpoint ID was returned by the DLI restart call, in a manner transparent to the batch application.
