  • Publication number: 20230368933
Abstract: A novel semi-batch process for deconverting high assay low enriched uranium (HALEU) from its uranium hexafluoride state to uranium dioxide and other chemical states useful as feeds for nuclear fuel in a nuclear reactor is provided. The semi-batch process enables the use of equipment that is small enough, and production rates that are low enough, to meet nuclear criticality safety restraints for HALEU, while enabling the safe, dependable, and economical production of HALEU feed for nuclear fuel at a nominal capacity of up to about 20 MTU (metric tons of uranium metal) per year per deconversion reactor.

Abstract: Systems and methods are described that relate to a device, such as an eye-mountable device. The eye-mountable device may include a capacitance sensor and associated circuitry configured to measure a capacitance and/or a change in capacitance based on a material being in proximity with the capacitance sensor. For example, the capacitance sensor and associated circuitry may be operable to detect an eye-related movement of a wearer of the eye-mountable device. The eye-related movement may be a blink, a wink, an eye moving with respect to an eyelid, an eyelid moving with respect to the capacitance sensor, or an eyelid closing. At least one sensor electrode of the capacitance sensor may operable to carry out an additional function, e.g. to measure a level of glucose in tear-fluid or to provide wireless communication.

  • Patent number: 9818005
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and apparatuses for loading program data on to an unpowered electronic device, such as an RFID tag that includes volatile memory. Initially, the tag is unpowered. Thus, the volatile memory in the tag will not have any stored data. In order to load data into the memory of the tag, a reader can power the tag wirelessly. The reader includes an antenna configured to transmit electromagnetic radiation and receive backscatter electromagnetic radiation. The reader also includes a processing unit. The processing unit is configured to analyze the backscatter electromagnetic radiation. The processing unit may analyze the backscatter radiation to determine a supply voltage induced in the tag. In response to the induced voltage being greater than a threshold, the processing unit may alter the transmitted electromagnetic radiation to communicate tag data.
