  • Patent number: 11272729
Abstract: An apparatus is configured to apply a treatment agent to an agricultural byproduct. The apparatus includes a fragmenting chamber where the agricultural byproduct is fragmented into particles. An initial amount of a treatment agent is applied to the byproduct in the fragmenting chamber. Particles of a desired size flow through a screen from the fragmenting chamber to a recovery zone. A second amount of the treatment agent is applied to the particles in the recovery zone. A regulator regulates the amount of the treatment agent applied to the particles in the fragmenting chamber and the amount of treatment agent applied in the in the recovery zone. The regulation may be based on one or more feedback mechanisms.

  • Publication number: 20100155513
Abstract: An auxiliary powerfeed is disclosed, which is designed to work in conjunction with other feeding devices found on a horizontal grinder, which typically include a horizontal feed conveyor and a powerfeed drum. The auxiliary powerfeed features a rotating drum on which are mounted rigid tines (or teeth) arranged in a staggered pattern. The drum is rotationally mounted within a pivotally mounted lift arm. The lift arm holds the axial shaft of the drum at each end. A set of hydraulic cylinders is mounted to the lift arm, one on each end of the drum. During operation, as a bale or other object comes into contact with the auxiliary powerfeed, the drum automatically lifts until it reaches the top of the object, the limit of its lift path, or a predetermined height that optimizes efficacy for a particular application. In some cases, the auxiliary powerfeed automatically operates differently with different feedstock consistencies.

  • Patent number: 7611085
Abstract: A waste fragmenting machine comprising a power feed system comprising a power feed wheel, an angular yoke connected to the power feed wheel and at least one, preferably two, sets of upper and lower linkage arms, the linkage arms being operatively connected with the machine frame and the angular yoke. The upper and lower arms of each set of linkage arms being arranged within the same vertical plane, but in a non-parallel relationship to each other and the upper arm being shorter in length than the lower arm. The linkage arms adjust the position of the power feed wheel to accommodate the size of feed material, thus maintaining a generally constant downward pressure thereon. Raising the power feed wheel under the present invention maintains the proximity between the power feed wheel and fragmenting rotor by moving the power feed wheel laterally in the direction of the rotor, thus promoting fragmenting efficiency by maximizing feed stability and maintaining steady feed rates.
