  • Publication number: 20120036155
Abstract: A method of identifying within a database of node pairs, one or more complete paths connecting a start search node to a finish search node. The method includes sending a search query from a client terminal to a network: receiving the search query at a server, identifying node pairs having a finish node matching a start search node, sending a response from the server to the client terminal identifying any matching node pairs, and storing responses of any matching node pairs that have as a start node the finish search node. Further search queries are distributed across all servers, and node pairs having a finish node matching the start node contained in the query are identified.

  • Patent number: 6189389
Abstract: An ultrasonic flowmeter for flowing media, has a measuring tube and at least one ultrasonic transducer, the ultrasonic transducer being installed in contact with the flowing medium in a transducer pocket of the measuring tube. The flowmeter eliminates the disadvantages and problems present in the known ultrasonic flowmeters, caused by eddies generated by the transducer pocket, by providing the transducer pocket with a grid having a mesh, in which the grid is located at the entrance side of the transducer pocket.

  • Patent number: 6083905
Abstract: This invention relates to the diagnosis of congenital defects in the anticoagulant protein C system. Methods that are disclosed are based on the detection of mutations at the cleavage sites of coagulation factors that are under control of activated protein C (APC). Diagnostic tests include analysis of the APC-cleavage sites of factor V and factor VIII, by using specific primers to amplify selectively from RNA, cDNA derived from RNA or chromosomal DNA, parts of factor V and factor VIII that contain cleavage sites for APC. Methods that monitor the presence of mutations at the cleavage sites for APC and their utility in the diagnosis of thrombo-embolic disease are disclosed. The invention further discloses methods for correcting the defects detected according to the invention, as well as novel therapeutic agents which can be used in the treatment of bleeding disorders, which agents are based on the "defective" Factor V and Factor VIII proteins leading to the thrombotic disorders described hereinabove.

  • Patent number: 5987997
Abstract: The invention concerns a method and a device for ultrasound measurement of the flow of flowing media with a measuring tube (1), with at least two pairs of ultrasound transducers arranged on the measuring tube, each forming a measuring path (M1,M2,M3,M4,M5), with a transducer (2) determining the velocities of the medium along the measuring paths (M1,M2,M3,M4,M5) from the signals of the pair of ultrasound transducers and with an adder (3) determining the flow quantity of the medium from the velocities of the medium along the measuring paths (M1,M2,M3,M4,M5).According to the invention, such a method and such a device are designed with a Reynolds' number meter (5) that determines the Reynolds' number constantly and a flow-quantity corrector (6) connected to the adder (3) and the Reynolds' meter (5).

  • Patent number: 5932706
Abstract: A method for the generation of Ca++ independent antibodies against blood coagulation factors is described wherein an antibody selection strategy based upon small peptides comprising target sequences for limited proteolysis is employed. These antibodies which distinguish between intact and cleaved species of haemostatic protein provide novel tools for the isolation of intact haemostatic proteins.

  • Patent number: 5908992
Abstract: The invention concerns and ultrasound flow rate measurement method by means of a measuring tube and at least two pairs of ultrasound transducers located on the measuring tube, in each case forming a measuring path, whereby the radial components of at least two measuring paths deviate from each other with respect to the axis of the measuring tube and in the case of which the measured value for the rate of flow of a flowing medium is determined from the velocity of the medium along at least two measuring paths. In accordance with the invention an ultrasound flow measuring method of this kind is further developed in that the eddy intensity in the medium is determined from the velocities of the medium along the measuring paths, the relation between angular momentum and axial momentum enters into the determination of the eddy intensity at least approximately, and the measured value for the rate of flow is corrected by means of the eddy intensity.

  • Patent number: 3941936
Abstract: A telecommunications system using TDM principles for signalling and speech path usage plus PAM principles for speech transmission. Each function circuit such as a trunk, link or register, etc. is allocated a basic time slot or channel for initiation of its function when indicated. The active period of each function circuit is continued during the period of three succeeding time slots. In this way, up to four function circuits or channel units may be active during a finite period of time.In the system, a line is scanned at the end of each complete scan of all channels, thereby lessening the complexity of associating a line and a function circuit. The system shown uses the dual highway principle for its speech path and provision is made in each line circuit for switching onto both highways.
