  • Patent number: 8144650
Abstract: A method of services request in a packet switched telecommunications network comprising a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) arranged for communication with a Serving GPRS Support Node (SGSN). During activation of a subscriber session, receiving by the GGSN, from the SGSN in an Update PDP Context Request message, data comprising both 1) an Internet Protocol (IP) address and user plane tunnelling endpoint identifier (TEID) for a Radio Network Controller (RNC) and 2) an IP address and user plane TEID of the SGSN; the GGSN nominally utilizes the IP address and TEID of the RNC for the subscriber session. If an error indication is received by the GGSN indicating that the RNC has restarted, it discards the IP address and TEID corresponding to the RNC and utilizes the IP address and TEID corresponding to the SGSN, whereby the GGSN and SGSN can maintain the subscriber session in the event of an RNC restart.

The packet data support node (10A) comprises duplicating means (12A) for duplicating original downlink data packets intended for a mobile station for which a hand-over is performed from the packet data support node acting as source node to a packet data support node acting as target node, control means (HA) for activating sending of the duplicated data packets to the packet data support node acting as a target node for forwarding to the mobile station such that the original downlink data packets are sent to the mobile station over a source radio access node from the source packet data node (10A). The duplicated data packets are sent to the mobile station over a target radio access node from the packet data source node acting as target node.

  • Patent number: 8107450
Abstract: A solution in a telecommunications infrastructure network for creating a secondary PDP context for a time critical application, ensuring that no packets are lost by masquerading a primary PDP context as the secondary PDP context. This may be achieved by for instance sending a fake TEID or including a filter in a PDP creation request for the secondary PDP context and updating the GGSN with a correct TEID or a new Traffic Flow Template (TFT) when the secondary PDP context is established.

  • Patent number: 7596110
Abstract: A router providing selective routing depending on traffic direction. The router includes two IP interfaces, where each IP interface is associated with a respective virtual private network. The router uses two forwarding tables. The first forwarding table routes traffic towards a first IP interface and a second forwarding table is capable of simultaneously routing traffic in the opposite direction, away from the first IP interface. The first IP interface is coupled to a first tunnel which provides bi-directional connectivity to mobile stations. The second IP interface is coupled to a second tunnel providing bi-directional connectivity to a corporate network. The router also includes a third interface which provides bi-directional connectivity to mobile stations. The router routes traffic through the second interface in the event that a mobile station on one interface is communicating with a mobile station on the third interface.

  • Patent number: 7404492
Abstract: A hydrocyclone unit for separating a fibre pulp suspension containing relatively heavy contaminants has an elongate tapering separation chamber, an inlet member that feeds the suspension tangentially into the separation chamber at a base end, so as to form a vortex in the separation chamber, a reject fraction outlet at the apex end of the separation chamber for discharging a reject fraction containing heavy contaminants, and a central accept fraction outlet at the base end for discharging a central fraction containing fibres. A fluid injection member is adapted to inject a fluid tangentially into the separation chamber at a distance from the apex end which is at least 40% of the length of the separation chamber, such that the injected fluid increases the rotational speed of a portion of the vortex in the chamber to increase the separation efficiency with respect to fibres existing in the vortex portion.

Abstract: The invention refers to a fast resume method in a TCP/IP based wireless radio communication system comprising a mobile station (MS) and a first router (SGSN1). The method comprises the steps of—the first router (SGSN1) copying and saving at least a part of the latest acknowledged frame (ACK,SEG1);—the first router (SGSN1) retransmitting the latest saved frame (ACK,SEG1) upon rte-establishing of contact between the mobile station (MS) and the first router (SGSN1) after an interruption, or; —the first router (SGSN1) transmitting the copied and saved frame (ACK,SEG1) to a second router (SGSN2) that stores the frame (ACK,SEG1) and retransmits the saved frame (ACK,SEG1) when contact has been established between the mobile station (MS) and the second router (SGSN2). The invention also refers to a radio communication system and a router arranged to carry out the method.

  • Publication number: 20070253359
Abstract: The present invention provides a system, apparatus and method wherein the network initiates a PDP context activation for a second PDP context using a new IP address that can be used for new transport sessions whenever one or more operator configured criteria apply. For example, the present invention can be used to: (1) route ongoing and new communication sessions from the old network device associated with the old IP address through a new network device associated with the new IP address using the old IP address; (2) route ongoing communication sessions from the old network device through the new network device using the old IP address, and new communication sessions directly through the new network device; or (3) route ongoing communication sessions from the old network device through the new network device without using the new IP address, and new communication sessions directly through the new network device.

  • Publication number: 20070011560
Abstract: Methods have been provided for accomplishing fast checksum operations for various nodes in a GPRS network. According to one embodiment of the invention a method is provided for performing tunnelling wherein, a first packet (J) is received having a stored first checksum value (HC J) covering at least portions of the first packet, and wherein the first packet (J) is encapsulated by providing a header (K) to the first packet. A second checksum value (dC K) covering at least portions of the header (K) but not covering portions covered by the first checksum is calculated and a third checksum value (HC K) is calculated and assigned. The assigned checksum value (HC K) is subsequently stored in the header (K), and the encapsulated packet (J, K) is transmitted.
