  • Patent number: 11448118
Abstract: A two-stage turbocharged internal combustion engine comprises a low-pressure stage turbocharger mounted at a first end side of an engine block and a high-pressure stage turbocharger mounted at the same first end side of the engine block. The respective turbochargers are mounted via a mounting structure, Which also accommodates the charge air coolers associated with the turbochargers. In order to obtain a compact arrangement and reduce a length of pipe connections between the different components, the different charge air coolers are mounted to mounting structure such that they overlap in a plan view of the internal combustion engine. Further, flow directions of charge air in the different charge air coolers are opposite to each other.

  • Patent number: 9309608
Abstract: A method and a device for producing a crimped multifilament thread are described. A multiplicity of filaments are extruded by means of a spinning machine, cooled and subsequently treated by a drawing device and a crimping device to form a crimped thread. Before the thread is wound up to form a bobbin, a multiplicity of intertwining knots is produced on the crimped thread by a treatment device. In order to obtain defined patterns of the intertwining knots within the thread, a pulse sequence of compressed air pulses at a predefined frequency is directed at the thread. The treatment device has a controllable blowing means.

  • Patent number: 7735465
Abstract: An internal combustion engine includes a cylinder (2) wherein a combustion chamber (5) is formed. The engine also includes devices for metering fuel and combustion air as well as an ignition device for igniting the mixture in the combustion chamber (5). A method for operating the internal combustion engine provides that fuel and combustion air are supplied to the engine and the mixture is ignited in the combustion chamber (5). The combustion chamber (5) is delimited by a piston (7) which drives a crankshaft (25) rotatably journalled in a crankcase (3). A control is provided which controls the supply of fuel and the ignition of the mixture in the combustion chamber (5). The internal combustion engine is so controlled in at least one operating state that the number of combustions is less than the number of engine cycles in the same time span. To avoid the formation of self ignitions, the operating state is a high rpm range wherein the rpm lies above the rated rpm and below the rpm in a regulating range.

  • Patent number: 7438064
Abstract: A mixture-lubricated internal combustion engine has a cylinder (2) in which a combustion chamber (3) is formed. The combustion chamber (3) is delimited by a piston (5) mounted to move back and forth. The piston (5) drives a crankshaft (7) rotatably journalled in a crankcase (4). The engine has an inlet channel (9) which supplies fuel and combustion air into the combustion chamber (3) as well as an exhaust outlet (13) from which exhaust gases flow from the combustion chamber. The intake inlet (11) and the exhaust outlet (13) are valve controlled. A flow connection is present between the crankcase (4) and the inlet channel (9). A good idle stability and a good idle acoustic of the engine are achieved in that at least one control valve (23, 33, 43, 63) is mounted in the flow connection.

  • Patent number: 7000906
Abstract: A carburetor for an internal combustion engine includes an intake channel section (2) as well as a throttle element journalled in the intake channel section (2). The throttle element is adjustable between a full-load position (25) and an idle position (26). A pump (20, 30) is provided for additional fuel metering and this pump includes a pumping chamber (24, 34) and a pump piston (21, 31) guided in the pumping chamber (24, 34). The position of the pump piston (21, 31) is coupled to the position of the throttle element. To ensure an optimal supply of the internal combustion engine with fuel in each operating state, the pump piston (21, 31) is so coupled to the throttle element that fuel is pumped from the pumping chamber (24, 34) into the intake channel section (2) when there is a displacement of the throttle element from the full throttle position (25) into the idle position (26).
