Patent number: 11900521Abstract: An apparatus includes an electronic display configured to be positioned in a first location and one or more processors electronically coupled to the electronic display. The processors receive a video from a server. The video depicts a view of a second location and includes an image of a rectangular casing, a frame, and one or more muntins. The image is composited with the video by the server to provide an illusion of a window in the second location to a user viewing the video. The rectangular casing surrounds the window. The processors synchronize a time-of-view at the second location in the video with a time-of-day at the first location and synchronize a second length-of-day at the second location in the video with a first length-of-day at the first location. The processors transmit the video to the electronic display for viewing by the user.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2021Date of Patent: February 13, 2024Assignee: LiquidView CorpInventors: Mitchell Braff, Jan C. Patent number: 11082089Abstract: As fiber networks are extended closer to the subscriber, 5G small cell, multi-dwelling units, and office buildings, in some applications Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) becomes an extension for the fiber network over the last 100 to 300 meters of twisted wire-pair telephone lines. Utilizing techniques such as bonding of coterminous twisted wire-pairs, increasing the bandwidth into the VHF spectrum, emerging 5th generation DSL technology is poised to deliver aggregate bandwidth approaching 10 Gb/s. Underpinning the capability to reach these speeds over twisted wire-pair, requires Vectored DSL to cancel Far-End crosstalk (FEXT); the dominant impairment to high-speed DSL. Improving on current Vectored DSL technology, both one-sided and two-sided, through utilization of Single-Ended Vectored DSL to cancel FEXT offers significant improvements to several aspects of deploying DSL at gigabit speeds.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 2020Date of Patent: August 3, 2021Assignee: NewWire Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jan C. Patent number: 8509050Abstract: Systems and methods for reducing crosstalk are provided. In one implementation, a method is provided. The method includes applying a pilot signal to a disturber twisted pair and measuring near end crosstalk of a victim twisted pair. The coupling characteristics between the disturber and the victim twisted pair are determined. A far end crosstalk function is derived for estimating the far end crosstalk in the victim twisted pair using the determined coupling characteristics. A crosstalk reduction signal is determined using the estimated far end cross talk. The crosstalk reduction signal is injected into the victim twisted pair to reduce crosstalk in the victim twisted pair.Type: GrantFiled: June 2, 2010Date of Patent: August 13, 2013Assignee: NewWire Systems, Inc.Inventor: Jan C. Patent number: 6990066Abstract: An ATM switch is configured to route ATM traffic from two receive circuits to a destination. One copy of this traffic is discarded in one of the receive circuits so that only a single copy is passed to the ATM switch. Receive circuits contemplate both virtual path (VP) level and card or circuit level metrics for qualification of signals.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 1999Date of Patent: January 24, 2006Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth M. Buckland, Jan C. Hobbel, Robert D. Howson, Jr.

Patent number: 6920156Abstract: A synchronous bus for a telecommunications node includes a frame repeating at a defined interval. Each frame includes a plurality of service channels. In at least one frame, a service channel individually transports traffic for a DS-0 connection. A set of service channels in the frame together transport an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cell.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1999Date of Patent: July 19, 2005Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Earl B. Manchester, Barry W. Field, Kenneth M. Buckland, Riccardo G. Dorbolo, Jan C. Hobbel, Richard F. Sustek

Patent number: 6760327Abstract: A rate adjustable backplane includes a set of switch slots configured to receive one or more switch cards forming a switch core and a plurality of line slots each configured to receive a line card. A low speed bus couples the line slots to the set of switch slots. A high speed bus also couples the line slots to the set of switch slots. Each line slot includes a low speed connector coupled to the low speed bus and a high speed connector coupled to the high speed bus. The low speed connector is adapted to receive a mating connector of a line card to establish a low speed communication connection between the line card and the switch core. The high speed connector is adapted to receive a mating connector of the line card to establish a high speed link between the line card and the switch core.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1999Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Earl B. Manchester, Barry W. Field, Kenneth M. Buckland, Charles R. Dyer, Riccardo G. Dorbolo, Danny Thom, Jan C. Hobbel, Soren B. Pedersen, Thomas A. Potter

Patent number: 6621828Abstract: A switch card for telecommunications node includes a shared memory operable to store traffic channels. A time slot interchanger (TSI) is coupled to a first bus and to the shared memory. The TSI is operable based on predefined switching instructions to access the shared memory to stored traffic channels received from the first bus and to retrieve traffic channels for transmission on the first bus. An asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switch is operable to switch a traffic cell based on header information in the traffic cell. A traffic converter is operable to convert traffic channels retrieved from the shared memory to traffic cells for processing by a bus fuser and to convert traffic cells to traffic channels for storage in the shared memory. The bus fuser is coupled to the shared memory through the traffic converter, the ATM switch, and a second bus.Type: GrantFiled: December 1, 1999Date of Patent: September 16, 2003Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Barry W. Field, Kenneth M. Buckland, Charles R. Dyer, Riccardo G. Dorbolo, Danny Thom, Jan C. Hobbel, Soren B. Pedersen, Thomas A. Potter

Patent number: 6434166Abstract: A universal DS-0 channelized format is provided wherein selected states of CAS bits are used to indicate to the transport mechanism when DS-0 channels are not being used for voice and are available for use for data transport. In addition, the T1 frame format carries CAS bits only in the first DS-0 channel, so that robbed bits are disabled and not used to carry ABCD signaling bits, thereby avoiding any risk of data corruption. Still further, a special CAS signaling value not defined as a CAS state, is employed in a frame nibble instead of a frame counter to indicate that the state is in the first DS-0 slot.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 1999Date of Patent: August 13, 2002Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Kenneth M. Buckland, Jan C. Hobbel, Earl B. Manchester
