  • Publication number: 20200246927
Abstract: A positioning system includes a centrally mounted robot within a work area. Workpiece holders are independently moveable relative to the robot between working positions on opposite sides of the robot and a shared loading and unloading position. The system permits the robot to continuously operate without a need to wait for movement between the loading position and the working position. Furthermore, the system can be used as a single workpiece system while maintenance or hardware change is being performed on one of the workpiece holders. The workpiece holders move between the work positions and the loading and unloading position in a rotation and sliding fashion.

  • Patent number: 8567278
Abstract: Described in this application is a zero-backlash preload gear assembly. The assembly is specifically described for use with a positioning system in order to significantly reduce or eliminate mechanical error and improve tolerances. Furthermore, the assembly allows for infinite positioning of a work surface in order to facilitate improved efficiency of an automated system.

  • Patent number: 8272179
Abstract: A barrier for a robotic work station is provided and includes a pair of upright posts, and rigid panels which are movable between a lower open position and a raised closed position. The panels are simultaneously moved between the raised and lower positions by a pneumatic cylinder and a pulley system. The movable panels are cantilevered from one of the posts, and include rollers for movement within a channel in the post. A fixed panel is provided at the bottom of the posts and extends approximately to the top of the work station table.

  • Patent number: 8146901
Abstract: The invention relates to a modular positioning robotic system and method of use of the positioning system. In general, the modular positioning robotic system is comprised of a controller module, a positioning module and a base that can be either a stationary base or drive module. The positioning module also allows for additional flexibility by allowing for designs with multiple allowable adjustments that can be changed for a change in turn diameter, length, width and weight of a fixture and part combination.

  • Publication number: 20080054241
Abstract: An improved safety fence for constructing a flexible workcell is provided with a fence end having at least one T-shaped post including a plurality of elongated support pins mounted along a first flange on the post and at least one cam lock mounted along a second perpendicular flange on the post for securing a panel member to the fence end. The fence can be quickly and easily assembled and disassembled, such that the workcell is portable and extremely flexible. The adjoining edges of the panel members are secured and sealed together using an H-shaped extrusion member. The fence includes stiffening ribs between posts to mount part bins and receive cabling, wiring, and tubing for work functions within the workcell.

  • Patent number: 6375178
Abstract: A dual cylinder pivotal work piece holding device includes a fixture pivotally mounted on a frame. A crank arm drives the fixture about a pivot axis. First and second cylinders have rods pivotally connected to the crank arm at a drive point offset from the fixture pivot axis. The rods form an oblique angle with each other and a controller is provided for extending and retracting the rods in a coordinated cycle so that at least one of the rods is moving at any instant during rotation of the fixture.
