  • Patent number: 5388487
Abstract: A hydraulic chuck for securing a lathe shaft and cutting tool to a tool holder is provided with spray nozzles to project cooling fluid on the cutting tool.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 2, 1993
Date of Patent: February 14, 1995
    Assignee: Sandvik AB
    Inventor: Jan Danielsen
  • Patent number: 5237895
Abstract: A machine tool for machining contains a tool attachment (9) to which a tool holder (7) for a lathe shaft (10) can be secured. The shaft (10) is mechanically secured in the tool holder (7), which means that vibrations occur when long shafts (10) are used. The invention reduces any vibration by arranging a tubular cavity (4) inside the wall surrounding the shaft (10) in the holder, and filling said cavity with a medium which is subjected to pressure so that the tool (10) is clamped with a force greater than that which can be achieved by mechanical means.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 4, 1992
Date of Patent: August 24, 1993
    Assignee: Spirex Tools AB
    Inventor: Jan Danielsen
  • Patent number: 5067861
Abstract: A tool holder including a drive unit having a peripheral flange about the outer end thereof, and interchangeable chuck units with similarly configured flanges for selective engagement against and releasably mounting to the drive unit flange by screw fasteners. Each chuck unit includes a self-contained fluid pressure system comprising a recess inward through the outer end thereof defined by a flexible peripheral wall with a sealed cavity therebehind. The cavity is filled with a fluid which, upon being pressurized, produces a corresponding inward flexing of the recess wall for the gripping of a tool bit.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: November 26, 1991
