  • Patent number: 5530683
Abstract: An acoustic transducer is constructed as a stacked configuration of multiyer transducer elements separated from one another by an electrical insulating material. Each multi-layer transducer element has a layer of acoustically transparent electro-acoustic transducer material having opposing planar surfaces with electrically conductive material deposited thereon. For each multi-layer transducer element, the electrically conductive material is formed into parallel strips electrically isolated from one another on at least one of each element's opposing planar surfaces. The parallel strips associated with each multi-layer transducer element have a unique angular orientation.

  • Patent number: 5511043
Abstract: A multiple frequency acoustic transducer is constructed as a stacked confration of N groups of multi-layer transducer elements separated from one another by an electrical insulating material. Each multi-layer transducer element in an n-th one of the N groups has a layer of acoustically transparent electroacoustic transducer material whose thickness is determined by the n-th frequency of operation. Each multi-layer transducer element has opposing planar surfaces with electrically conductive material deposited thereon. For each multi-layer transducer element, the electrically conductive material is formed into parallel strips electrically isolated from one another on at least one of each element's opposing planar surfaces. The parallel strips associated with each multi-layer transducer element in any one of the n-th groups have a unique angular orientation in the n-th group.

  • Patent number: 4373143
Abstract: A dual mode transducer has the capability of high power active transmission t two separate frequencies more than two octaves apart with broad bandwidth at both frequencies. The low frequency transducer is a standard double mass loaded longitudinal vibrator which has a head mass composed of a small array of high frequency transducers. The high frequency transducers are either half-wave resonators or tonpilz types. These high frequency transducers have a nodal plate mounting. The head mass of the low frequency transducer has a plurality of apertures which accept the high frequency transducers. The rear of each high frequency transducer is recessed into an aperture and has air as an acoustic pressure release. Both low and high frequency transducers form part of an electrically steerable array.
