    Abstract: A cam plastometer in which deformation compressive forces are applied to a specimen by a cam follower engaging a cam which is rotated by a hydraulic motor. By rotating the motor at a predetermined speed, and employing a particular profile of the cam periphery, deformation forces can be applied which vary with time in a desired manner, to simulate actual conditions which occur during industrial pressing and forming operations. The plastometer also is capable of torsional testing of specimens.
