  • Patent number: 9030162
Abstract: A battery charging system and a method for a increasing endurance of a high voltage battery in a hybrid electric vehicle includes a high voltage battery for vehicle propulsion, a generator for charging the high voltage battery, a DC/DC converter for converting a high voltage to a low voltage, a low voltage battery charged with the low voltage, and an alternator, driven by an engine, and connected with the low voltage battery in parallel with the voltage converter. The method includes registering a parameter, where the parameter is at least one of a state of charge of said high voltage battery, and energy inflow/outflow to/from said high voltage battery to said vehicle drive motor or said generator, and controlling the low voltage in dependence of the registered parameter.

  • Patent number: 6374691
Abstract: An apparatus for shifting a transmission coupled to an engine including a controller for shifting the transmission between operating modes, a control lever for switching the transmission, and an actuator for actuating the control lever in response to shifting of the controller. The apparatus includes a longitudinal tube connected to the controller, a cylindrical slide connected to the actuator for actuating the control lever in response to shifting of the controller, the longitudinal tube being coaxial with the cylindrical slide, a detector for detecting relative displacement between the longitudinal tube and the cylindrical slide, and a spring acting between the longitudinal tube and the cylindrical slide to prevent relative displacement between them until a force acting on one of them exceeds the spring force of the spring.

  • Patent number: 5692992
Abstract: A shift assist apparatus for a marine drive includes a tube having a pair of biased springs, between which a sleeve at the end of a transmission cable is movably retained. A remote control cable is fixedly attached to the tube. High transmission cable shift forces associated with resistance to shifting cause the sleeve to move against the bias of one of the springs. A sensor detects this movement and sends an electrical signal to interrupt the engine ignition circuit, thereby preventing the firing of one or more cylinders of the engine. The interruption of the engine ignition reduces the torque on the shift mechanism, in turn reducing the shift forces in the transmission cable and enabling the operator to shift the transmission. When the shift operation is completed, the engine resumes normal firing.
