Abstract: A seal assembly for a shaft comprising a stuffing box having an inner circular cylindrical wall surface, for attachment on or in a wall having an opening for passage of a shaft therethrough. The seal assembly having at least one first annular sealing lip of elastic material, e.g., rubber or similar material, secured at each end section of the stuffing box and which encloses and bears resiliently against the shaft, forming acute angles therewith, the first lips defining between them an annular chamber in the stuffing box for at least one annular elastic sealing member disposed between the shaft and the inner circular cylindrical wall surface of the stuffing box.
