Patent number: 9578041Abstract: A method includes receiving, at a first wireless device, from a second wireless device, content and an identification of the second wireless device, over a peer-to-peer wireless communication link. The received content is rendered and verification information containing the identification of the second wireless device and an identification of the received content is generated at the first wireless device. The verification information is then encrypted at the first wireless device using an encryption key. Apparatus and a computer program product counterparts to the method are also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 2010Date of Patent: February 21, 2017Assignee: Nokia Technologies OyInventors: Silke Holtmanns, Jan Ignatius

Patent number: 8019361Abstract: An approach is provided for managing subscriber identity and location information within a mobile telecommunication network. Transmission of location data to a third party over a communication network is initiated, the location data being indicative of a geographical location of an apparatus. Transmission of an access request to a networking node including a destination application is initiated, the access request including a unique identifier of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 2007Date of Patent: September 13, 2011Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Jan Ignatius, Petri Kokkonen

Publication number: 20080127345Abstract: A system and method for protecting against spam messages. An incoming filtering message system receives an anti-spam policy configuration message and forwards the message to a trusted environment, such as a smart card. The configuration is forwarded to the trusted environment over a secure channel, such as an encrypted tunnel. An anti-spam filter is created based upon the message. Upon receiving a potential spam message at the apparatus, the incoming filtering message system retrieves at least one of the created anti-spam filters and applies the anti-spam filter to parameters of the potential spam message. If after applying the filter, it is determined that the potential spam message is an actual spam message, the actual spam message is either sent to a junk folder and later deleted or immediately deleted. Alternatively, a user of the apparatus may be queried to confirm that the potential spam message is an actual spam message.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2007Publication date: May 29, 2008Inventors: Silke Holtmanns, Jan Ignatius

Publication number: 20080102860Abstract: Embodiments of the invention include an apparatus comprising a network node configured to pass location data within a communications network to a third party, the location data being indicative of a geographical location of the mobile telecommunications device. The apparatus is configured to send an access request to said network node including a destination application and a unique identifier of the apparatus.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2007Publication date: May 1, 2008Inventors: Jan Ignatius, Petri Kokkonen

Patent number: 7321778Abstract: A method of passing location data within a communication network to a third party is provided. The location data is indicative of a geographical position of a mobile telecommunications device. The method includes the steps of determining the location data associated with the telecommunications device, receiving from the mobile telecommunications device an access request including a destination application and a unique identifier of the mobile telecommunications device, determining an alias identifier for the mobile telecommunications device, replacing the unique identifier in the access request with an alias identifier for the telecommunications device, forwarding the access request to the destination application, and forwarding the location data with the alias to the destination application. The destination application is then able to associate the access request with the location data.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 2002Date of Patent: January 22, 2008Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Jan Ignatius, Petri Kokkonen

Patent number: 7269426Abstract: In a communication system a request for location information associated with a target user is signalled from an entity. Said request contains information identifying the requestor of said location information. A verification is performed based on said identifying information if the target user has authorized the requester to initiate provision of location information that associates with the target user. The location information provision is initiated if it is determined that the requester is authorised by the target user to initiate provision of location information that associates with the target user.Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2006Date of Patent: September 11, 2007Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Petri Kokkonen, Janne Muhonen, Jan Ignatius, Sebastian Kraufvelin

Patent number: 7242946Abstract: A telecommunications system comprises at least one user and provides a first entity for storing information defining a privacy profile for at least one user. A second entity is arranged to store an association between at least one user and the first entity and the system is such that in response to a request for information relating to the user, the association stored in the second entity is used to identify the first entity so that a check can be made with respect to the privacy profile as to whether or not the requested information, can be provided.Type: GrantFiled: October 9, 2002Date of Patent: July 10, 2007Assignee: Nokia CorporationInventors: Petri Kokkonen, Markus Maanoja, Tomi Varonen, Jan Ignatius
