  • Patent number: 4838170
Abstract: A drive wheel unit for moving equipment inside a pipe. A housing is connected to associated equipment by U-joints on either side of the housing. A drive wheel which extends above the top edge of the housing is driven by a drive motor and gear reducer mounted in the housing. A brake connected to the drive motor allows precise positioning of the equipment. A hydraulic cylinder and piston arrangement and wheel attached thereto are provided at each end of the housing and are used to lift the housing into a driving position where the drive wheel is in driving engagement with the top inside surface of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 4822221
Abstract: An internal flash removal unit which radially cuts flash while it is still hot and relatively soft. A drive motor and reduction gearbox mounted in a housing drive a tooling plate rotatably mounted on the housing. A cutting assembly is mounted on an arm which is pivotally mounted on the tooling plate. A hydraulic actuator causes the arm to move outward and place the cutting assembly into cutting position as rotation of the tooling plate begins.

  • Patent number: 4675473
Abstract: A welding conductor having a curved stack of flexible copper leaves which have an inside curved surface. Resilient metal shims bear against the inside surface to urge opposite ends of the stack outwardly. The outer end of the stack is connected, for example, by welding, to an outer plate which carries an outer copper shoe. The inner end of the stack is welded to an inner plate. A fire-resistant ceramic cloth surrounds the stack to protect the metal leaves.

  • Patent number: 4274621
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for shaping an end of a tube in a configuration such that it may be joined to the surface of another body as by welding. The method disclosed involves profiling the end of a tube to conform to the surface of a body to which the tube end is to be joined, with a notional line on the end face that corresponds to the theoretical line of contact of the tube and body, cutting the tube wall at the profiled end to provide a beveled surface over the face of the end to the outer peripheral surface of the tube, and controlling the cutting so that the bevel surface formed progresses inwardly through the tube wall thickness to form a transition line on the profiled end face that substantially follows the notional line of contact between the innermost and the outermost peripheral edges of the profiled end face.
