    Abstract: An austenitic stainless steel alloy having a high molybdenum content consisting essentially of up to 0.08% carbon, 0.01-0.8% silicon, 0.2-2.0% manganese, 17-25% chromium, 15-21% nickel, 6-10% molybdenum, 0.06-0.25% nitrogen and 0-2.0% copper and the balance of the contents of said alloy being iron with residual impurities. The alloys of the present invention have improved corrosion resistance and improved hot and cold ductility.
