  • Patent number: 5591706
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an aqueous peroxide composition with improved safety profile, the composition comprising a solid, substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid stably suspended in an aqueous medium, wherein the aqueous medium also comprises an effective amount of a safety booster selected from the group consisting of triethylene glycol, polyethylene glycol and mixtures thereof. The preferred organic peroxy acid is 1,12-diperoxydodeandioic acid. The aqueous peroxide composition is particularly useful in detergent, bleaching, cleaning and/or disinfecting formulations.

  • Patent number: 5358654
Abstract: This disclosure relates to pourable bleaching compositions comprising a solid substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid stably suspended in an aqueous medium containing at least two polymers wherein the first polymer is selected from polysaccharides having at least 60% of the units in the polysaccharide backbone being linked together by a 1,4-.beta.-oxy linkage and the second polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, one or more cellulose derivatives and mixtures thereof. The bleaching composition also may contain an electrolyte and/or a safety booster. The preferred organic peroxy acid is 1,12-di peroxydodecanedioic acid.

  • Patent number: 5348695
Abstract: A process for the preparation of salt granulates particularly useful as carrier media for liquid washing agent raw materials in detergent compositions of high bulk density. The process includes granulation under pressure of salt powder having a content of water of crystallization of at least 10% and an average particle size of 1 to 500 .mu.m, and subsequent extraction of the water of crystallization in a fluidized bed at a temperature of the bed which is below the melting point of the granulate. In the granulation process use is preferably made of a mixture of water of crystallization-holding salts and anhydrous salts.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 10, 1992
Date of Patent: September 20, 1994
    Assignee: Akzo Nobel N.V.
Inventors: Jan J. H. Ploumen, Christiane Thomas
  • Patent number: 5296156
Abstract: The invention relates to bleaching granules containing a solid, water-insoluble peroxy acid and a hydratable inorganic material. The bleaching granules are made by a process wherein the constituents to be used are mixed to form a powder at low temperature and granules are formed from the powder as the temperature is increased to at least the hydration temperature of the hydratable inorganic material. The invention also relates to bleaching compositions and detergent compositions comprised of such bleaching granules.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 5126066
Abstract: This disclosure relates to pourable bleaching compositions comprising a solid substantially water-insoluble organic peroxy acid stably suspended in an aqueous medium containing at least two polymers wherein the first polymer is one or more natural gums and the second polymer is selected from the group consisting of polyvinyl alcohol, one or more cellulose derivatives and mixtures thereof. The bleaching composition also may contain an electrolyte. The preferred organic peroxy acid is 1,12-diperoxydodecanedioic acid. The preferred first polymer is xanthan gum. The second polymer is preferably a cellulose ether.

  • Patent number: 4000127
Abstract: Carboxymethylated derivatives of polysaccharide compounds such as starch are disclosed which have improved sequestering properties and are useful as water softeners as well as detergency builders in detergent compositions. The compounds are water-soluble and have from 0.5 to 3 hydrogen atoms of the hydroxyl groups per monomeric six carbon glucose unit entirely or partially substituted with at least 2 neutralized or non-neutralized carboxyl groups.Built detergent compositions containing the water-soluble carboxymethylated derivatives of polysaccharide compounds with organic water soluble surfactants are also disclosed. The compositions exhibit improved sequestering power.
