Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for negotiating schema information relating to one or more content types of a message body comprised within a message of a communication protocol. A communication protocol message such as a SIP or HTTP message is generated by a sender towards a recipient, wherein the message includes a message body. A schema indicator is provided in the communication protocol message to indicate acceptability of variations of a content type of a message body or body part in a response from the recipient.

Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for providing an indication of available access types by a wireless device when initiating a session. The wireless device collects information associated with available access types, available through which to communicate, at the location at which the wireless device is positioned. A report is generated that lists the collected information. The report is routed to a network node that analyzes the received information and accesses a database at which information identifying an access type, or domain type, that the wireless device should use pursuant to an emergency, or other, call. A response message is generated and returned to the wireless device. The wireless device utilizes information contained in the response message for further communications.

Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, to facilitate performance of an IMS (IP Multimedia Subsystem) service to a circuit-switched-connected user equipment. The user equipment includes a USSD message generator that generates an initiation message that is sent to a network of a radio communication system. The message is routed through the network to an entity that decodes the USSD message to form an XCAP message. The XCAP message is routed to an associated service node that operates responsive to the XCAP message.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for managing delivery of a Mobile-Terminated (MT) call via an IMS network, wherein the MT call is originated by a calling party towards a User Equipment (UE) device that is CS-attached. An IMS-capable network node is operable to associate the received call information with an IP Multimedia Routing Number (IMRN) and provide the call information and the IMRN via alternative signaling (e.g., USSD or SMS messaging) to the UE device. A Mobile-Originated (MO) call process is initiated by the UE device using the received IMRN as the destination number, which terminates at the network node. Upon verifying that the returned IMRN is valid, the network node bridges the access and remote legs to establish the end-to-end path for the MT call between the UE device and the calling party.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a message generation scheme is disclosed that is operable with respect to user data information relating to the signaling of an IMS message over a CS network. A number of User Data Items (UDIs) may be configured at one of the entities, e.g., a UE device or a network node, wherein each UDI is operable to contain a plurality of Information Element Identifiers (IEIs). For a select IEI, an Information Element Data Length (IEDL) structure is provided that is operable to indicate a length of data associated with the select IEI, wherein the data comprises at least a portion of the user data information. One or more alternative signaling (AS) messages are generated for transmission to a second entity, wherein the AS messages include one or more of the UDIs.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for facilitating discovery and integration of service capabilities available in a network environment via disparate service platforms. A query may be generated by a subscriber party towards a service integration node having functionality to integrate service features from a plurality of service platforms. A response may be received by the subscriber party from the service integration node, wherein the response includes a list of service capability identifiers relating to one or more service features. A display module is operable for presenting at least a subset of the services enabled by the discovered list of service capability identifiers via a display for supporting user interaction at a user equipment (UE) device.

Abstract: A method of communicating information describing a voice call from a caller to a recipient comprises steps of obtaining call subject information describing the call and communicating the call subject information to the recipient to inform the recipient about the call. The call subject information can be presented as a subject line displayed to a recipient in which the caller provides information about the nature of the call and/or its urgency, which thus enables the recipient to better judge whether it should be answered immediately. The call subject information can be input as text by the caller or it can be extracted automatically from a calendar application or a messaging application.

Abstract: A system and method for multi-channel blocking, the method having the steps of: creating a block filter to block a plurality of communication channels to a mobile device; communicating the block filter to a blocking element; and executing the blocking filter at the blocking element.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for effectuating remote control of a network node by a user equipment (UE) device. A message relating to a service feature is constructed and wrapped in a wrapper, which is then transmitted to the network node via an out-of-band control channel over a network infrastructure including a dedicated network portion and a trusted network portion for invoking the requested service feature. In an exemplary implementation, the wrapper is comprised of a Short Message Service (SMS)-based message, an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)-based message, and a User-to-User Signaling (UUS)-based message.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a scheme is disclosed for effectuating remote control of a network node by a user equipment (UE) device. A message relating to a service feature is constructed and wrapped in a wrapper, which is then transmitted to the network node via an out-of-band control channel for invoking the requested service feature. In an exemplary implementation, the wrapper is comprised of a Short Message Service (SMS)-based message, an Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)-based message, and a User-to-User Signaling (UUS)-based message.
