  • Patent number: 4499718
Abstract: Fiber separating device of an open-end spinning unit wherein the wall facing the fiber separating cylinder is provided with an impurity separating duct and with one or more air supply apertures. The air supply apertures are oriented symmetrically with respect to a plane substantially passing through the axis of the impurity separating duct and perpendicular to the axis of the fiber separating cylinder, the axes of said apertures including the same angles with the opposite walls of the impurity separating duct. The fiber separating device of the invention solves the problem of withdrawing impurities from fibrous materials supplied to the fiber separating device of open-end spinning unit, while reducing losses of the fibrous material.

  • Patent number: 4495762
Abstract: Apparatus for separating fibers in open-end spinning units having a fiber separating cylinder in a cavity of a housing in which on a cylindrical surface there is provided a cleaning aperture with an impurity separating duct which latter opens by its impurity rebounding wall into a cylindrical impurity collecting chamber communicating, on the one hand, with an air supply aperture and, on the other hand, with an impurity sucking-off duct. In accordance with the invention at least one of the walls of the impurity sucking-off duct tangentially merges into the cylindrical wall of the cylindrical impurity collecting chamber, and the height of said sucking-off duct in the region of joining said collecting chamber is the same as or larger than the height of the outlet from said impurity separating duct into said collecting chamber.

  • Patent number: 4251984
Abstract: Apparatus for separating cotton type staple fibers from a fibrous sliver supplied to an open-end rotor spinning machine, said apparatus having a surface for supporting the so-called fiber beard of the sliver to be attacked by a card clothing of the combing cylinder. The dimensions and position of said support surface relative to the sliver feeding means and said card clothing are defined in dependence on the count of the sliver as well as on the gauge and staple length of the fibers to be processed. Such an optimization of the support surface dimensions and position makes it possible to attain an excellent evenness of fiber separation and consequently a good final yarn quality even with relatively low speeds of the combing cylinder, and also to reduce the risk of card clothing damage.

  • Patent number: 4067182
Abstract: A method of separating fibers from a fibrous sliver and conveying them in this condition to a twist forming element of an open-end spinning unit. The fibers traverse a fiber separating zone which is formed by the annular space between a combing-out cylinder and the bore of a housing. Ambient air is sucked into this fiber separating zone as well as into a sliver feeding zone. The air being sucked in is the resultant of air flowing in planes perpendicular to the axis of the combing-out cylinder, in planes passing through said axis and in planes parallel to said axis. The apparatus for carrying out the aforedescribed method which includes a housing with a bore, a combing-out cylinder coaxially mounted in the bore, a sliver feeding device mounted in a cavity of the housing adjacent to the combing-out cylinder, and a lid covering the housing, but at least the region of the sliver feeding device being at least partially exposed to permit ambient air to be sucked into the sliver feeding and fiber separating zones.

  • Patent number: 3998040
Abstract: A plurality of separate fiber slivers are introduced into spaced portions of a fiber-separating zone disposed in a combing cylinder-type fiber separating apparatus. The separated fibers are separately discharged into a common duct via a fiber-stripping zone associated with each combing cylinder. The regions of introduction of the separate slivers to the combing cylinder are suitably spaced so that the resulting separated fibers discharged into the duct form a common flow in the portion of the duct between the fiber-stripping zone and the downstream end of the duct. A yarn-spinning apparatus is disposed at the downstream end of the duct for receiving the common flow of the fibers, and such apparatus is mounted for rotation about an axis which is skewed with respect to the axis of the combing cylinder.

  • Patent number: 3990225
Abstract: Open-end spinning unit having two housings connected to each other, a first housing containing a spinning rotor adapted to be supplied through a supply duct with separated fibers carried by an air stream while yarn is withdrawn therefrom through a take-off duct, the second housing containing a sliver supply roller and a combing-out cylinder followed by said fiber supply duct extending through a lid inserted into the spinning rotor and forming a part of said second housing, the spinning rotor being surrounded with an air collecting space adapted to collect the air to be withdrawn from the spinning rotor. The spinning rotor turns about a vertical axis of rotation and is driven by an individual motor through the axis of which the yarn take-off duct extends in an upward direction. The lower front part of the spinning rotor extends into a cavity provided in the top part of said second housing.

  • Patent number: 3968636
Abstract: Open-end fiber spinning machine including an under pressure spinning chamber and an opening roller mounted in a fiber opening body. The opening roller engages a feeding channel for feeding the separated fibers, said channel connecting directly the inner space of the spinning chamber with an environment of higher pressure. The feeding channel is provided in a wall located oppositely to the fiber opening roller with a curved surface which is engaged by the circumferential circle line of the sawtooth covering of the fiber opening roller.

  • Patent number: 3952494
Abstract: Open-end spinning unit with a spinning rotor having a lower side and an upper side. A lid is inserted into a front opening provided in said lower side, said lid being bored so as to form a fiber supply duct to convey separated fibers into the interior of said spinning rotor. A yarn take-off duct extends through said upper side of the spinning rotor and conveys the yarn via an outlet port out of the interior of the spinning rotor. A separator is secured to said lid and is designed to divide the rotor interior into a fiber supply zone and a yarn producing and take-off zone.
