  • Publication number: 20080129083
Abstract: Recently, at least some parts of exterior components of vehicles have been made of plastic as well by back-molding lacquer films with plastic. A large number of such exterior components require transparent areas which are produced separately and are inserted into die-cut zones of the component. Said method requires a lot of effort while joints are difficult to prevent. The aim of the invention therefore is to create a component that can be produced in a simpler manner and without creating gaps as well as an adequate method for the production thereof. Said aim is achieved by introducing a hole into the film for the transparent area, inserting said film into the component mold, and then back-molding the same with a transparent plastic material in the mold such that the hole is filled with the transparent plastic material.

  • Patent number: 7293627
Abstract: An active exhaust muffler for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, having a housing through which a pipe system passes, the pipe system designed to be permeable for airborne sound in a first space, having an antisound generator which is arranged in a second space and antisound acting upon a third space through a wall opening during operation, the wall opening being provided in a partition that separates the second space from the third space, whereby airborne sound is transmitted from the first space to the third space through a sound outlet. To increase the lifetime of the antisound generator and thus the exhaust muffler, a labyrinth is provided in the third space, blocking a direct path between the sound outlet and the wall opening, and providing at least one indirect bypass for the propagation of airborne sound between the sound outlet and the wall opening.

  • Publication number: 20070205043
Abstract: An active muffler (1) for an exhaust system (2) of an internal combustion engine has a first space (3) and a second space (4) that is separated from the former via a partition (5). The partition (5) has a wall opening (6) into which is inserted an electronic sound absorber (7) having a chassis (8) and a diaphragm (9). During operation, the electronic sound absorber directs anti-sound toward the first space (3) and thereby reduces the sound emission generated by the exhaust system (2). The chassis (8) of the electronic sound absorber (7) and the partition (5) are made in one piece.

  • Patent number: 6963647
Abstract: The invention relates to a controlled acoustic wave guide configured as an elongated hollow chamber (1) which via an opening (2) in its first face end (3) is connected to a sound-conducting channel (4). The longitudinal resonances of the hollow chamber (1) can be adjusted to a sound spectrum to be dampened. To this end diaphragm vibrations are detected by means of a microphone (10) which is positioned directly in front of the diaphragm (8) of at least one loud-speaker (9) at the second face-end (6) of the hollow chamber (1). The microphone signal is then inverted using an amplifier (11) and fed back to the loud-speaker (9) after amplification in accordance with a sensor (12) signal characterizing the sound spectrum in the channel (4).
